What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Service Specialist position at Connecticut Junior Republic?
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position travels between two offices, one in Torrington, CT and the other in Danbury, CT.
The Service Specialist has two primary roles; one as Resource Specialist connecting with service providers and maintaining a list of all community resources from each town in the catchment area and the second as Intervention Specialist facilitating cognitive-behavioral and Life Skills groups to youth. The Service Specialist works closely with the Family Advocate in helping to identify what is available in the youth’s and family’s community in order to make a meaningful connection.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Associate Degree in Criminal Justice, Community Organizing, Human Services, Sociology OR at least 3 years’ experience and knowledge working with juvenile justice system and/or working with communities
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
