Job Summary:
To work with identified families to assist with parenting, goal setting and accessing services necessary to reach self-sufficiency. To implement identified parenting curriculum in home visits and supervised visits.
Education & Experience:
- Associate’s Degree plus two years experience in direct client casework required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Service field preferred
Other Requirements & Skills:
- Must have valid driver’s license, insurability, and reliable transportation.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability and motivation to work independently and without direct supervision as well as in a team and with the general public.
- Must possess understanding of available human service resources.
- Understanding of Trauma Informed Care and the ability to operate within an empathic, person-centered framework.
- Must demonstrate understanding of and empathy with the low-income community and families with special needs and risks.
- Openness to learning new skills and technology as necessary; must participate in training as required.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Work to increase parent/caretaker skills to help maintain safe, stable environments for youth.
- Build referral networks with a variety of sources including but not limited to: Probation, Child Protective Services, school systems, Health Department, Department of Social Services, Focus Group, and other service providers. Shall accept, make, and document appropriate referrals with this network.
- Work directly with participants to administer the “Measure of My Family’s Well Being” or other deficit-risk assessment tools as necessary to determine participant’s areas of strength.
- Meet with participants on a regular basis in homes, offices, and or supervised visit locations to assist with development and achievement of their individualized goals and objectives.
- Act as an advocate for participants and encourage strength-based activities.
- Report to the court as necessary documenting areas of achievement/ need and/or risk areas.
- Provide or arrange for educational sessions as appropriate for the individual family, i.e., parenting, housekeeping, etc.
- Provide emergency services or advocate for emergency assistance to help families overcome crisis.
- Teach and encourage decision making skills.
- Deliver approved parenting curriculum to families in the home as well as in a class.
- Provide alternate hour visitation to families identified through the Child Welfare System.
- Measure progress and provide feedback to families on progress.
- Record progress notes in ORS and if applicable CONNECTIONS, and complete regular reports as required
- Work together with the Resilient & Healthy Families in implementing the mission of the division and agency.
- Demonstrates, promotes, and practices CCA’s mission and values
- Comply with all funding source regulations, for creating a safe environment, and to report any unsafe situations to the immediate supervisor.
- Must be enthusiastic about promoting the mission of CCA; be willing to work towards the good of the entire agency, and to act as an ambassador of CCA throughout the community.
