What are the responsibilities and job description for the CEI Roadway Inspector position at Consor Engineers?
The Opportunity
As a CEI Roadway Inspector, you will assist CEI Inspectors or CEI Senior Inspectors in all aspects of daily roadway and bridge construction inspection which includes various construction inspection duties to ensure quality control and contractor compliance for roadway, structure and/or bridge, and transportation construction projects of varying complexities.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assists with inspections and monitors assigned field work activities on a project to ensure conformance to plans, specifications, and other contract documents
- Coordinates work and inspections with contractor’s representative as per required by higher-level inspectors
- In guidance with senior inspector, checks lines, grades, dimensions and elevations using standard field measuring equipment
- Ensures that highways, work zones, and traffic control setups conform to contract requirements
- Assists with tests and/or material sampling such as earthwork, concrete and asphalt
- Assists in project administrator or senior inspectors meetings
Required Credentials
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience is required
- Required to have and maintain a satisfactory driving record
- Ability to effectively follow instructions; deal effectively with contractors and public
- Perform math calculations following instructions of Senior Inspectors
- Able and willing to work day or night shifts and/or flexible schedules including weekends as required to support the project requirements
- Work under exposure to inclement weather conditions
- Personal computers and applicable programs
- Promotes and maintains a safe working environment
- Candidates that are selected will have to pass a mandatory drug screen
- Maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle record as needed by company insurance
- Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting
- Ability to use hand tools to perform tests
- Lifting requirements limited to 20 lbs. in the form of supplies, drawings, etc. Longest distance to carry is up to 50 feet
- Ability to move (push or pull) up to 50 pounds is required
- Hand manipulation is required for simple grasping, pushing and pulling, and fine manipulation. Right and/or left hands utilized
- Occasional need to reach and/or work above the shoulder, for supplies, as well as below the shoulder for same
- Must be alert to equipment in the field, there will be occasional travel, will work near construction job site equipment when in the field, occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery, occasional need to walk on uneven ground, exposure to dust, gas or fumes, exposure to noise, extremes in temperature or humidity, and potential work at heights
