What are the responsibilities and job description for the Scrap & Recycling Champion position at Constellium?
Constellium is a global sector leader that develops innovative, value-added aluminum products for a broad scope of markets and applications, focusing in particular on aerospace, automotive and packaging.
Primary Purpose:
This position requires a resource passionate about the value creation opportunities and has an entrepreneurial spirit. The candidate preferably has charge building, melting, and casting experience. The Scrap and Recycling Champion provides leadership for developing and continously improving the site’s metal recyling and metal management capabilities in accordance with the stratgey of the Plant, BU, and Group leadership.
Key Accountabilities:
- Lead and manage change relative to new metal unit usage (MOC)
- Increase alternative metal and alloying element usage, safely, with environmental compliance
- Develop storage, handling, charge methods to improve recycling and production capabilities
- Customer / supplier visits to find new or increased opportunities
- Develop process capabilities to use the available metal units and alloys in the current and future markets
- Improve scrap and dross segregation
- Develop processes to change the form of external metal units to make them productive, profitable, and user-friendly for the Cast House
- Lead efforts to reduce mixed scrap generation across the entire Plant
- Optimize the mix of high purity grades used to maximize metal value, including organizing physical receiving and storage; and charge calculation methodology
- Lead and organize trials
Technical Competencies
- Degree in Engineering or other technical field
- 5 years experience in melt and cast operations
- Knowledgeable of charge planning and execution
- Continuous Improvement training
