Job Description

Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the role

A move overseas has left big shoes to fill in our Digital Innovation team. We’re looking for a skilled Product Owner who can drive digital change programs, help define our strategic direction, and influence our culture shift towards a best-in-class digital organisation, using cutting edge digital tools, ways of working and mindsets to challenge the status quo and ‘leapfrog’ our digital propositions from today to tomorrow.

There is real opportunity here to make an impact and leave a legacy. Reporting to the Head of Digital for Generation & Trading, you’ll join a friendly, approachable team at the top of their game, working closely with squads, product owners and key stakeholders to improve our digital landscape. Ensuring a seamless end-to-end user experience, you’ll play a key role in creating alignment between teams, and ultimately afford the business an enterprise-wide view as to how and where we can optimise.

This is a data-heavy journey, where you can flex your commercial acumen and EQ as you balance data and analytics with leading the heart & soul of our business through tremendous change. Your stakeholders are incredibly receptive and incredibly intelligent – a big part will simply be taking them on the change management journey, communicating the digital product vision as you hustle behind the scenes to ensure fit-for-purpose solutions are built by the dev team.

Qualifications

Ko wai koe | About you

Coming from a Digital Product Owner background (ideally B2B or internal), you have a deep knowledge of new and emerging digital channels and their customer service and engagement applications, along with a passion for data and the ability to articulate it simply. This is your space, and you love it – you’re outcome-focused and skilled at gathering and prioritising user requirements, going beyond requests to get to the core of critical user needs, with strong product instinct and proven experience building best-in-class experiences and products.

You’re an excellent leader, always 2-3 steps ahead, comfortable working under pressure and – most critically – a great communicator. You understand the value of what you’re working on, track and measure the product KPIs and are able to prioritise that amid other competing priorities.

Of course, having worked in this space for yonks you’re also proficient with agile ways of working including prioritising product backlogs, writing user stories and developing acceptance criteria, know your stuff in terms of product roadmaps and competitive analysis, and understand technical engineering best practices like test driven development and continuous integration.

Additional Information

We support our people to work how, where and when works the best. Most of the Digital team are based in Auckland & Wellington, however this role can be fully remote, and we’re open to applications from all over Aotearoa.

Contact is not a place you’ll stagnate. We are growing and offer superb learning and development opportunities along with a bunch of other perks like free health insurance cover, better-than-your-average leave, access to Contact Shares, a ‘Good to be Home’ annual payment toward your home set up & wellbeing, a trail-blazing parental leave policy, discounts on Contact Energy products, and more..

We’re keen to welcome a Senior Digital Product Owner ASAP to drive this epic mahi so if this sounds like a bit of you, apply now, or if there’s something you’re curious to know before making it official, contact Tash on [email protected].

Please note, only candidates with the right to live and work in New Zealand will be considered for this role.

Research shows that while men apply to jobs where they meet 60% of the criteria, women and those in underrepresented groups tend to only apply if they tick every box. We're not about box ticking, so if you think you have what it takes but don't meet everything stated above, please still get in touch. We'd love to kōrero.
