Knitting Operator

Overview:

A knitting operator will be able to perform all duties associated with the production of knitted fabric to manufacture knitted fabrics and keep knitting equipment in production. The knitting operator will also be able to operate machinery in order to heat and stretch a roll of knitted fabric in order to meet desired finished specs.

Responsibilities:

Performs daily mechanical upkeep, troubleshooting, repairs, and quality functions inclusive of lubrication cycles and quality assurance.

Performs re-needling of knit equipment and keeps maintenance records for equipment.

Performs cam arrangements on knit equipment.

Operates machines for production purposes, if needed.

Use Continental’s SAP system.

Operator will be responsible for starting and stopping machinery.

Check setup of machine at the beginning of the shift.

Load greige roll into machine entry.

Verify desired spec. Make necessary adjustments to meet spec

Monitor appearance of fabric as well as machine operation and notify supervisor of any bad quality of machine malfunction.

Take samples for lab testing. Run necessary lab tests. Communicate testing outcome with supervisor. Take appropriate action following outcome of lab results.

Record appropriate information.

Unload finished roll at machine exit.

Place finished roll in appropriate area for shipping.

Check functionality of the machine throughout the work shift.

Other duties as assigned.




Safety awareness in daily work including general housekeeping to ensure a clean and safe working environment.

Must be able to work in a loud industrial environment.

Must communicate well with management and team members.

Effective written and oral communication skills.



Basic Qualifications: Minimum of 2 years of production experience required.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required; or 1-3 months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of both education and experience.

Understanding of knit terminology

Experience with single and/or double jersey knitting machines

Must be able to utilize magnifying glass to count courses of yarn. Must be able to work with small parts and minute settings.
