Hoosier Racing Tire is the largest race tire manufacturer in the world. Hoosier has grown to produce over 1000 different types of race tires. The company has its own 300-mph test wheel; a technology center; state-of-the-art, fully integrated production facilities recently adding a high-tech mixing plant, with enough capacity to produce not only for Hoosier Racing Tire, but to have the ability to produce rubber for additional entities as well as a model sales and distribution network. Our Hoosier location in Plymouth, IN is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our team.
Job Description
The Position
As an integral member of our Engineering group, you'll have the opportunity to work on exciting projects, gain firsthand experience in a large manufacturing facility, and contribute innovative ideas to drive continuous improvement.
You'll be responsible for a variety of tasks aimed at providing you with valuable hands-on experience and insights into the industry. Here's what you can expect:
Project Management: Take ownership of a designated project, from initial assignment to completion. Your project will be evaluated, providing you with constructive feedback and an opportunity to showcase your mechanical engineering skills.
Collaborative Support: Assist with various projects and tasks across different departments as needed. This collaborative approach will allow you to work closely with experienced professionals and gain exposure to diverse aspects of the manufacturing process.
Facility Insight: Gain firsthand knowledge of how facility operates. Through guided tours and hands-on experiences, you'll learn about the intricacies of our production processes and the roles of different teams within the organization.
Engineering Processes: Develop a comprehensive understanding of the roles, processes, and procedures that support production output within our Engineering group. This knowledge will lay the foundation for your future career in mechanical engineering.
Racing Tire Expertise: Dive deep into the world of racing tire manufacturing. Learn about advanced materials, innovative technologies, and the meticulous craftsmanship required to create tires that meet the demands of professional racing.
Continuous Improvement: Contribute your ideas and insights on how to improve our manufacturing processes and product performance. Your fresh perspective and creativity will be valued as we strive for excellence in everything we do.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an accredited University Degree Program in junior or senior standing (as of Fall 2024).
- Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar technical field.
- 3.0 overall GPA or higher
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening

- PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS (travel, lifting restrictions, etc.): Limited travel within the US Required. Ability to lift up to 70 lbs. required
