THE POSITION
• Ensure that the scrap reduction process structure is being followed throughout the plant using structured problem-solving techniques and coordinate/ facilitate scrap projects throughout all of the production departments in an effort to minimize scrap 1-4 COP%
• Lead rework activities for flow and inventory control
• Reduce scrap COP for the areas Mixing, Extrusion, Calendering, Cutting, Tire Building, Curing, and Final Finshing
• Responsible for generation control of plant rework
• Utilize structured problem-solving, facilitation, coordination, communication, 8D/4D preparation and sometime lead function, process analysis, and statistical analysis
• Lead and coordinate rework generation reduction activities
• Manage improvement projects to reduce plant scrap generation and foster teamwork
• Ensure information to upper management about performance of the KPIs and necessary steps for improvement
• Maintain the plant quality documentation (lessons learned), including procedures and work instructions
• Develop, approve, and implement new and revised procedures and work instructions throughout the plant
• Coordinate and develop a pool of internal trained structed problem-solving colleagues
• Report monthly to plant and central functions
• Must have technical process knowledge in each production department area (machine operation process)
• Be familiar with quality tools such as SPC, FMEA, 8D, PPAP, MSA, etc.
• Must have knowledge of the following typed of trainings; structured, problem-solving, project/small project approach, process analysis, scrap team coordination, scrap process structure, advanced Excel and pivot table, & SPC and statistical analysis
• Must have effective communication and be fluent in written and spoken English
• Ensure implementation of measures and maintain controls
• Raise awareness and provide information about ESH responsibilities and duties
• Ensure immediate notification and response, and initiate preventive measures in case of unsafe or polluting hazards
• Demonstrate exemplary personal behavior in ESH and motivate others
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering or Scientific field
• Five or more years’ experience working in quality field of auto industry
• One of more years’ experience in management or leading function of a team
•Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Continental is able to offer visa support and relocation for internal candidates or for those individuals who hold existing valid employment visas.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Master’s degree
• Green belt/black belt certification
• Tire Industry experience
