Overview
We are a young and progressive company who is having a positive impact on the world by transforming waste into sustainable building materials and are currently in need of adding additional talent to help us reach our goals. As a key leader in the production operation, you will report to the Production Manager and have responsibility for driving and coordinating smooth production shifts of approximately 10 team members through coaching, training and holding personnel accountable while meeting safety, quality, and production goals in addition to meeting cost and reporting objectives.
Responsibilities
Actively leads and supports the plant safety programs by:
- Promoting a safety conscious culture through actions and personal accountability;
- Providing daily updates on safety issues and training topics to the crew;
- Performing incident investigations as needed for personal injuries and property damage;
- Identifying and correcting hazards in the plant, both safety and environmental;
- Holding individuals accountable for work area and general plant housekeeping; and
- Recognizing employees for exceptional performance in regard to safety.
Routinely verify conformance of material being produced to meet or exceeds quality standards by:
- Monitoring quality parameters of material created and make adjustments as needed (measured by rejects and quality audit scores);
- Ensuring all employees are properly trained on quality specifications and are accurately using testing equipment;
- Actively pursuing and correcting issues that negatively affect the quality of the board;
- Recognizing employees for exceptional performance in regard to quality; and
- Promoting a quality conscious culture through actions and accountability.
Ensure machines are coordinated and operating at maximum efficiency by:
- Recommending improvements and/or upgrades to optimize throughputs;
- Development and communication of run plans to crews on a daily basis;
- Coordinating daily activities, which include the run plan, staff resourcing, and changeovers to best utilize resources and maximize efficiency;
- Planning and managing all downtime events to target less than 10% downtime, this would include but is not limited to, product changeovers, size changeovers and unscheduled downtime;
- Setting, tracking and communicating clear targets to crews
- Learning and maintaining a thorough knowledge of all processes and equipment.
Actively pursue ways to meet site cost expectations by:
- Continuous improvement of reducing rejects month-over-month;
- Effectively manage overtime (OT) at or below plant targets.
Create an environment that promotes teamwork and accomplishment by:
- Being a team player with a positive, “can-do” mindset;
- Recognizing employees for exceptional performance in regard to retention;
- Recruiting high quality employees;
- Maintaining an environment of mutual trust and respect;
- Providing clear direction for employees to follow and support;
- Exceptional leadership ability - trains, evaluates, reviews, and provides effective feedback to shift employees on a consistent basis and conducts performance evaluations on a bi-annual basis;
- Organizing staffing to best utilize each individual contribution to the team;
- Enforcing all Company policies;
- Documenting all coaching sessions;
- Promoting training for employees in all positions;
- Reviewing each employee’s career track with him/her on a quarterly basis and then ensuring progress;
- Communicating daily on the issue of job performance, be fair, consistent, and objective.
Knowledge, Experience and Skills:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing Supervisor role
- Bachelor’s or Associates degree a plus
- Demonstrated skills with the standard features of various personal computer word processing and spreadsheet software (Microsoft Word and Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet, and other proprietary software).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-speed environment, follow standardized work and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement environment
- Demonstrated ability to act independently upon information and make decisions that achieve optimal results.
- Strong interpersonal and written/oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others.
- Demonstrated ability to think ahead and plan over a 30-day time span and prepare action plans to achieve results.
- Basic mechanical knowledge and troubleshooting skills are a plus.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
