Position Overview
The Warehouse Assistant receives, stores, and distributes material, tools, equipment, and products within the Contract Associates Warehouse by performing the following duties:
- Assist warehouse manager with shipping and receiving, unloading trucks.
- Assist with moving materials and items from receiving or storage areas to shipping or to other designated areas.
- Assist with sorting and placing materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
- Assist in ensuring warehouse is accessible and safe for internal and external customer traffic.
- Assist with assembling customer orders, places orders on pallets or shelves, or relocating orders to a holding area.
- Assist with marking materials with identifying information using appropriate method.
- Assist with opening bales, crates, and other containers.
- Maintain warehouse cleaning checklist, by keeping all areas of the warehouse clean (removing all trash, sweep, dusting, mopping, vacuum, and wipe down).
- Assist with organizing warehouse and work area for orderliness.
- Required to attend all staff and department meetings.
- Other duties as assigned by warehouse manager.
Skills and Certifications
- Must possess or be able to obtain forklift certification; current certification preferred.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and have a clean driving record.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Must be able to lift 50-100 lbs throughout the day.
- Maintain and use appropriate tools.
- Maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) - steel-toe work boots, gloves, and safety glasses - at all times.
- Professional, pleasant, and courteous demeanor must be exhibited to all internal and external customers at all times.
- Must adhere to Environmental and Safety guidelines at all times.
