Job Overview:
Amazon New Product Manager of eCommerce (PDMe) will facilitate and drive eCommerce sales growth by focusing on researching market gaps on the Amazon platform with specific intent to mine new product offering opportunities whereupon launch, new product introductions are priced competitively, situated in large markets with manageable competition, meet consumer keyword demand requirements, and commercialize within timelines communicated and agreed upon. Initiatives the PDMe will drive will require intensive focus to deliver timely sales results and deliver value at the earliest possible opportunity. The PDMe will also be required to be able to pivot frequently, move from one initiative to another as priorities change, and provide regular & frequent updates on progress, bottlenecks, and successes. Examples of initiatives the PDMe will facilitate are given below however due to the nature of this position, the examples are not exhaustive and other projects/assignments can and will be assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Owns and develops a process to research keyword search, size of competition, barrier to entry, and pricing requirements to discover new product opportunities for the firm to launch with sales success occurring within forecasted guidelines within 90 days of inception.
· Manages the full-scale launch of new products on AMZ. Assist marketing in developing selling material/content needed, work with marketing to develop proper image set, and ensure pricing is effective to optimize margin while also maintaining competitiveness within the marketplace. Work with the internal team to develop a promotional strategy around the new products and track all activity/sales/spend associated with launch. Assist internally to optimize AMS campaigns related to NPD. Develop consistent NPD lifecycle that can be replicated across all new product launches.
· Develops and deliver weekly reporting related to new product launches including sales, marketing spend, reviews trends, variance to launch forecasts, and margins.
· Drives follow up action within the business to push the needle on delivery of new product development for Ecommerce (Purchasing/Sourcing). Partners with Sourcing to provide specific product details and specs required to ensure proper item sourcing. Works with Quality/Regulatory as needed to ensure new product launches are in compliance.
· Identifies opportunities for cost reductions within the eCommerce landscape through research of the competitive market and advises sourcing of potential opportunities. Utilizes existing product offerings as quasi potential new products to be optimized via costing improvements to more quickly realize quasi new product sales on items previously overpriced and/or untouched.
· Utilizes 3rd party resource tools (i.e.: Junglescout/Helium 10 etc) to stay abreast of new functionality available to optimize the discovery of high potential new products.
· Stays abreast of top competitors and new strategies/approaches and trends within the industry; also continued focus on learning new strategies as it pertains to optimizing the new product development process.
· Assist the Ecommerce team as needed to track/manage/assist legacy related issues as directed. Understands legacy business is the baseline of the business and owns portfolios and actions where needed a full build out of resource allocation.
