What are the responsibilities and job description for the NP/pa - PICU position at Cook Children's Healthcare?
We are seeking an experienced Acute Care PNP or PA to join our amazing team of 13 PNP-AC providers and 15 Pediatric Intensivists as we continue to grow our team.# We work together to cover our busy 49 bed multidisciplinary PICU 24/7.# We have a varied patient population, including trauma, oncology, neurosurgery and pulmonary patients.# Our unit is unique in the amount of autonomy our APP providers have to perform patient assessments, make diagnoses, and intervene with the strong support of the Intensivists.# In addition, our APP providers are part of the hospital#s Rapid Response and Sepsis Alert teams.# Previous Pediatric Critical Care experience is preferable.# Management of ICU caseload and ICU procedures will be covered in orientation. The Nurse Practitioner functions collaboratively with physicians in the Pediatric Critical Care Department and other Consultants. The Nurse Practitioner autonomously performs patient assessments, diagnosis and implements an appropriate plan of care. The Nurse Practitioner prescribes a variety of treatment modalities to meet patient care needs in the defined patient population up to and including PICU admissions/discharges and prescriptive authority. The Nurse Practitioner delivers competent and skilled care to patients and families according to their identified needs. Care is based on the nursing process and the medical plan of treatment. The Nurse Practitioner will deliver care with a team orientation, an emphasis on good customer relations, sound clinical judgment and appropriate decision-making abilities that take into consideration evidenced based practice. Education # Experience Advanced Practice Registered Nurses # Graduate of an approved accredited Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program; Masters of Science in Nursing required. # Minimum two years of Pediatric Critical Care Nursing strongly preferred. Education & Experience
