The Senior ETL Developer is an independent IT professional who analyzes, designs, and architects ETL solutions, data pipelines, and data integrations in support of Cook Children’s mission. This role requires experience working with technologies such as SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and Azure Data Factory, as well as strong programming skills in SQL and at least one modern programming language, such as C#, Java, Python, or Scala. The Senior ETL Developer is comfortable working with a variety of data sources and formats, including flat files, relational databases, star/snowflake schema, cubes, JSON, streaming, and unstructured data, as well as common consolidation patterns such as the operational data store, data warehouse, and data lake. As part of the larger Data Management team within Cook Children’s the Senior ETL Developer works closely with data integration engineers, business intelligence developers, database administrators, and application analysts to support projects and operational workflows. Success in this role requires an ability to analyze complicated data flows, articulate technical concepts clearly and effectively with both technical and non-technical collaborators, and troubleshoot difficult data issues.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in information technology required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Health Care environment preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio.
- Experience programming in SQL, C# and/or equivalent programming languages.
- Experience with Business Intelligence development lifecycle.
- Knowledge of designing and planning ETL solutions.
- Knowledge of relational and dimensional modeling.
- Debugging, monitoring, and troubleshooting ETL solutions.
- Creating SSIS packages.
- Writing relational and multidimensional database queries.
- Experience with data warehousing.
- Proven experience with business and technical requirements analysis, verification and methodology development.
- The ability to create systematic and consistent requirements specifications in both a technical and user-friendly language.
- Ability to apply statistical and other research methods into systems issues and products as required.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification
- Epic certification in at least one of the following:
- Caboodle Development Certification
- Caboodle-Clarity Development Certification
- Caboodle Data Model Certification
- Clarity Data Model Certification
- Epic certification is required within six (6) months from employment including 1 test retake.
- Microsoft SQL certification a plus
