JOB SUMMARY
This position is the benefits subject matter expert and is responsible for managing and coordinating the planning, implementation and administration of the company’s benefit programs that are in support of the company culture and overall strategic business direction. This position requires attention to detail, high degree of accuracy, analytical ability, and a customer service orientation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of applicable laws and regulations impacting employer sponsored benefit plans and compensation programs.
- Plans, develops and/or participates in area and industry surveys.
- Evaluates and compares company programs and processes for competitiveness and effectiveness; develops specific recommendations for changes that are aligned with company culture and strategic imperatives.
- Manages the overall compensation program, responsible for the annual performance management and salary planning process, forecasting, and budgeting, including helping create the training, communication, process setup related to benefits
- Manages the annual open enrollment process including working with carriers, TPAs and business partners, and developing communication materials and processes, with regards to the administration of the group medical, vision, dental life, long-term and short-term disability, HSA/FSA, 401(k) plan etc.
- Works with broker to ensure compliance with all Local, State and Federal regulations and reporting requirements. Manage PCORI, 1094/1095 C and EEO reporting and compliance process. Manages the 401K, and any other audits necessary to be compliant, including submission of Form 5500’s.
- Manages, enhances, and streamlines day to day administration duties and benefits process.
- Oversees LOA administration and processes; ensures in compliance with policy and regulatory requirements.
- Oversees the accurate maintenance of records and compilation of benefit plan data.
- Works closely with payroll to ensure benefit and payroll deductions are accurate and resolve any discrepancy issues.
- Serves as a link between management and employees by handling questions on benefits, policies, processes and helping resolve work-related problems.
- Participate in M&A and redundancy projects to support business change activities
- Analyzes data to provide comprehensive metrics that guide HR strategy to the company and executive leadership to support the progress on initiatives and objectives. Proactively optimize HRIS systems to solve business needs/problems.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND COMPETENCIES:
- Demonstrate solid knowledge and ability to interpret federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to health & welfare, compensation, FLSA, LOA, ACA, retirement 401(k), COBRA.
- Knowledge of HR principles and practices in benefit plans, policies and processes and the use of HRIS systems.
- Demonstrate strong work ethic, trustworthiness, and team work with all levels.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong in project management, data analysis and negotiations, proven analytical and quantitative skills with ability to derive actionable recommendations
- Expert knowledge of Excel and proficiency in the rest of Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to effectively consult with business leaders and HR Business Partners on benefits matters.
- Ability to work in dynamic environment and handle ambiguity.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work schedule in order to meet deadlines and business needs.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND/OR LICENSES:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience, Master or MBA preferred
- At least 5 years of progressive benefits work experience, with main focus on program and policy design
- Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) preferred.
- Strong ACA knowledge
