JOB SUMMARY
The Director, Field Service is responsible for directing the activities and providing leadership to multiple branches over a geographically dispersed assigned region. Responsible for service business across their assigned region ensuring that projects have appropriate manpower levels and skills to meet; customer and regulation requirements, customer satisfaction levels, and executed margin obtainment.
The position will also require close collaboration with Regional Service Directors, Corporate Finance, and HR Leaders to implement and transition CoolSys companies into a single operating unit within the region. This will include implementing new systems and processes for techs and admin, training, and project delivery. This role would also support any new business units that are added within the region.
CoolSys is looking for Director, Field Service in 3 market areas: Atlanta, GA Metro area, South Carolina/North Carolina and Tennessee/Alabama (exact range of geographies to be further defined).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Project/Business Responsibilities:
- Constantly monitor and manage the financial performance of all assigned branches and jobs in the assigned region to ensure they remain on track.
- Provide analysis and reporting of job status and performance to customers and management, as required, to ensure organizational goals are met and to meet customer requirements.
- Assesses and troubleshoot escalated customer problems and provides guidance to Managers and/or Team Leads.
- Work with Customer Support Operations and Sales to resolve customer disputes and billing issues.
- Provide company-specific brand execution within your direct region that is consistent with the expectations and processes of the entire company.
- Supports budget preparation for Regional Leadership.
- Conducts branch & regional financial reviews working closely with Field Operations and Finance management. Reviews monthly region and branch profit and loss statements and makes appropriate decisions to improve financial performance.
- Ensures customer satisfaction and strong, positive ongoing relationships with customers. Resolves issues and problems that impact customer satisfaction.
- Promotes and fosters teamwork within the assigned region by setting specific goals, monitoring and analyzing jobs as they proceed, forecasting current and future manpower requirements as needed, and appraising individual and group performance to establish highly competent teams.
- Support, advance and lead Operational Excellence & continuous process improvement initiatives.
- Provides excellent leadership to subordinates, work teams, and individual employees.
- Provides timely communication within the department and across organizational lines.
- Provides timely performance feedback, training, and coaching to develop subordinate managers and employees.
- Ensures, through timely and proactive communication, positive customer and vendor relations.
- Drives and leads continuous process improvement and Lean/Operational Excellence initiatives.
- Supports and coordinates with Sales to evaluate Service Contracts, new opportunities, and RFP submissions
- Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND COMPETENCIES:
- Ability to travel up to 50-60%.
- Knowledge of the construction industry, principles, and practices related to project estimation, labor forecasting, building permits, and multiple disciplines involved in areas of responsibility e.g. plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and fixtures construction.
- Demonstrated strong customer service skills, ability to proactively address customer issues and concerns
- Demonstrated leadership skills, ability to lead diverse and multi-discipline workforce
- Knowledge of refrigeration and HVAC-R industry, including principles and practices related to refrigeration systems and equipment, managing remote tech force across large geographical areas, and ability to collaborate with Regional and Corporate teams
- Knowledge of computer-controlled systems preferred
- Good communication (verbal & written) and presentation skills
- Demonstrated business and project management skills including knowledge of automated project management tools, financial reports, and general knowledge of accounting principles
- Ability to use computer systems (E-Mail, Word, Excel, Work Order Software).
- Ability to organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology
- Ability to organize and prioritize own work schedule and the work schedules of others on a short-term and long-term basis in order to meet deadlines and business needs.
- Ability to make informal presentations, inside and/or outside the organization, speaking before groups
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND/OR LICENSES:
- AA degree from an accredited vocational-technical or junior college is preferred.
- 5 - 7 years of management experience in construction, refrigeration, or a related industry.
- 10 years experience in construction, refrigeration, HVAC, or related industry with 5-7 years of experience in managing multiple projects and/or multiple business locations.
- EPA certification required
- A current and valid driver’s license and a good driving record
