Vascular Ultrasound Technologist- Westerville Radiology

Central Ohio Primary Care Physicians is seeking a Vascular Ultrasound Technologist for our Westerville Radiology office located in Westerville, OH. The  Vascular Ultrasound Technologists possesses a working knowledge of specific tasks and procedures associated with Ultrasonography. As a trained health care professional, the Ultrasound Technologist works closely and personably with other Technologists, Physicians,  Nursing staff, and Office staff. The primary goal of the Ultrasound Technologist is to provide prompt, courteous, and quality care to every patient requiring our services, keeping foremost in mind to preserve the patient’s dignity and rights to confidentiality. This is a full time position working 3:30p-8p Monday- Thursday at Westerville and 7:30a-3p at Reynoldsburg and 3:30p-8p at Westerville on Friday.

ESSENTIAL  FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Image patients  according to protocols and parameters set forth  by department policy or by a  Radiologist. 
• Responsible for explaining procedures to the patients and answering questions as needed.
• Process  exams on all completed ultrasound exams. Archive patient exams on PACS system.
• Troubleshoot minor problems that arise with the ultrasound  scanner and the  PACS system. Seek assistance from appropriate service personnel when  necessary.  
• Stay current on new protocols, software changes, policies and procedures, and quality assurance requirements. 
• Assure ample stock of linen, film supplies, processor supplies and professional supplies. 
• Inform patients of delays or equipment repairs that cause excess waiting for the patient. Assist in transporting patients to restroom, patient’s car, or other department whenever necessary.
• Assist Receptionists  and Physicians in finding appropriate time slots for routine patients. Act  as a backup for team members who are out of the office, both planned and unplanned.
• Participate in continuing education applicable to the field and/or self-improvement. Attend and participate in staff meetings and other miscellaneous mandatory meetings.
• Assist in training new technologists hired by the center. 
• Perform  other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Required:  ARDMS  Registered

Education, Licensures & Certifications 

• Required: Completion of course in Vascular  Ultrasound Technology  and registry by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers
• Required:  Current certification as required by law

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Knowledge of anatomy and physiology to sufficiently input area for imaging  
• Knowledge  of equipment,  testing,  safety, body mechanics and patient movement
• Knowledge  of department computer and phone systems.  
• Skill in properly positioning patients to provide quality imaging  
• Skill  in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public 
• Ability  to assist patients on and off exam tables
• Ability to take a blood pressure manually at the brachial level  
• Ability to work on a team and display a positive attitude
• Ability  to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
• Excellent  relationship building skills
