A Copeka Coffee Barista is responsible for maintaining high standards of customer service and product quality in a third-wave coffee shop. This includes, but is not limited to, preparing beverages using a wide variety of equipment, using a point-of-sale system, preparing and serving food, and maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout the space.

Essential Functions:

Product

*Ensures that all customers are educated on Copeka Coffee products and services. *Maintains high quality and consistent product standards. *Follows all drink recipes and procedures. *Develops and maintains an understanding of coffee and tea regions and the various differences in flavor and blends.

Service

*Greets all customers with fast, friendly, personalized service and develops a rapport with customers. *Verbally receives and calls back customer orders in a friendly manner. *Reports all customer complaints to manager on duty. *Responds proactively to prevent customer service situations. *Accurately rings sales orders into POS and counts back change to customers in a courteous and friendly manner. *Answers telephone in a courteous and friendly manner including, but not limited to, giving store greeting, directions to store location, and receiving and filling customer orders. *Answers customer questions regarding menu, preparation, and product freshness. *Prepares, sells, and serves baked goods and miscellaneous food items to customers. *Maintains efficient, friendly service in the midst of busy service.

Environment

*Restocks shelves when necessary. *Routinely cleans the FOH and BOH, the bar area, floors, windows, restrooms, seating areas, condiment station, etc. *Assists in the distribution of supply shipments. *Reports potential safety hazards to the manager on duty. *Reports all employee accidents to the manager on duty. *Informs the manager on duty of any operational inconsistencies. *Checks and reports on inventory.

Qualifications:

*Excellent communication skills. *Ability to handle the demands of various personality types in a service situation. *Ability to prepare high quality espresso and other menu items under pressure. *Ability to learn and incorporate new information into processes quickly and accurately. *Ability to maintain professionalism at all times. *Excellent attendance and punctuality.

Preferred Education and Experience:

• One or more years of barista and/or food-service experience.
