What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intern - Operations Accounting position at COPT?
The Accounting Intern will support the Operations Accounting team by providing assistance with the monthly financial statement close process, the quarterly forecasting process and accounts payable processing. The Intern may work directly with a Portfolio Controller in support of these processes for a portfolio of operating properties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist Portfolio Controller teams with invoice approvals, recurring journal entry accruals, balance sheet reconciling items research, simple straight-line rent schedules, labor, capital, budgets for consolidated contracts, etc.
- Support Portfolio Controller teams with research for tenant billing questions, tenant audits and tenant expense recovery calculations.
- Provide support for Lease & Billing Administration and Operations Accounting for document retention to include filing and scanning as well as report compilation and distribution.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate in maintaining the internal controls and policies of COPT.
- Other job-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Rising junior or senior who is majoring in Accounting preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and Outlook) and ability to learn company specific software.
- Strong analytical, technical, interpersonal and communication skills required.
- Must be able to comprehend business transactions and documents.
