POSITION: Social/Emotional Counselor
Salary Range: $41,203 to $76,326
Qualifications: Candidates need to have a TSPC Counselor’s endorsement or have the ability to attain one. Major responsibilities include assisting student in their adaption to the school environment and guiding them on making appropriate social and emotional choices. Bilingual candidates and candidates experienced in working with bilingual students and families strongly encouraged to apply.

Job Title: Counselor, Social/Emotional Assignment: District
Reports to: Director of Special Programs Evaluated by: Director of Special Programs
Position Overview: Major responsibilities include assisting students in their adaptation to the school environment and guiding them on making appropriate social and emotional choices.
- Essential Job Functions:
- Works in concert with administrative staff to recommend and provide appropriate special services for students and their parents.
- Maintains continuous communication with school staff regarding individual student needs.
- Organizes, coordinates and administers the keeping of student records as assigned.
- Assists teachers in their efforts to communicate with students by providing liaison services.
- Makes home visits as necessary and initiates parent, teacher, and student conferences
- Assists with the coordination and development of written school plans for guidance and counseling.
- Coordinates the development and updating of written school plans for guidance and counseling.
- Initiates counseling and guidance contacts with students. Provides counseling and guidance services at students’ request.
- Assist students to gain self-understanding through exploration of their feelings, needs and values.
- Scheduling and registration procedures.
- Recommends and coordinates efforts to place students in educational situations best suited to their needs.
- Runs small support groups.
- Other duties as assigned
- Other Job Functions:
- Establishes communication with various offices and agencies within the larger community which may provide specialized or professional help to student or their parents.
- Provides parenting class opportunities in the community
- Assists with the coordinating and administering of the building testing program.
- Coordinates the standardized testing program
- Serves on committees, advisory groups, and such other activities as may be assigned
- Fulfills other counseling-related duties as assumed or as assigned.
- Sets and carries out goals each year.
- Qualifications:
- Knowledge of:
- Methods of guidance and counseling
- Laws, rules, policies, and trends regarding guidance and counseling.

- Inspire student’s use of the guidance and counseling services.

- Experience:
- Demonstrated competency.
- Prior teaching or counseling experience.
- License:
- Current Oregon license with appropriate endorsement in area of assignment
- Current ODL
- Physical Requirements:
In an eight-hour day, employee may
