Reports to: Food & Beverage Lead, Food & Beverage Assistant Manager, Food & Beverage Manager, Director of Food & Beverage.

General Purpose: Presents an optimistic and unforgettably positive impression to our Members and Guests, exuding the genuine warmth of the Club by serving welcoming and efficient hospitality and providing a seamless dining experience at our restaurant/café.

The server needs to be the expert and capable at helping with any task within the restaurant. Though they receive help from other members of the team, they oversee their own section. They know when to ask for help and strive to create a memorable experience for each member. Presents an optimistic and unforgettably positive impression to our Members and Guests, exuding the genuine warmth of the Club by serving and welcoming members and providing a seamless dining experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

· Exhibits sincere hospitality. Puts member satisfaction above all else. Has a problem-solving mindset when dealing with difficult situations.

· Remains attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous to guests, managers, and fellow employees.

· Reports to work and clocks in/out for scheduled shifts and meal and rest breaks on time and in complete and proper uniform.

· Has complete knowledge of all standards, procedures, and products.

· Greets guests promptly, using member recognition and name usage whenever possible. Creates a personalized experience for members based on personal preferences.

· Is extremely well-versed in all restaurant offerings, regardless of menu changes. Recommends items based on the member’s preferences.

· Takes drink and food orders, answering all questions about the menu, ingredients, cooking methods, and asking for special dietary requests from diners.

· Maintains an exceptional tabletop. Coordinates with other staff members to ensure trips to the table are as efficient and non-repetitive as possible.

· Ensures members in their section are checked on regularly throughout the experience to ensure they always have what they need.

· Is extremely thorough. Ensures guests are receiving everything in a timely manner, fires courses to ensure gaps between courses are not too lengthy, and ensures checks are accurate so the member gets charged for everything they ordered and does not get charged for anything they did not.

· Maintains a neat and orderly service station.

· Communicates the needs of members to the kitchen and to management. Informs management of any member feedback.

· Assists support staff in keeping side stations stocked with mise en place.

· Follows all state and local laws for serving alcohol responsibly.

· Assists and coaches other positions in the restaurant, especially since they have likely held other positions. Acts as a mentor to those who are looking to grow into the server role.

· Complies with all food and beverage regulations.

· Adhere to guidelines and policies outlined in the employee handbook.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

· High level of professionalism and attention to detail

· Excellent verbal communication and organizational skills

· Basic knowledge of POS systems

· Dynamic, outgoing personality; articulate, friendly, punctual, and proactive

· Problem solving, reasoning, and “thinking out of the box”; ability to apply common sense understanding to better serve our internal and external guests’ needs

· Ability to handle guest complaints and resolve them to satisfactory results

· Ability to read, comprehend, and abide by the rules of the Employee Handbook

· Possesses basic math skills and has the ability to handle money.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

· Minimum 2 years of serving experience in an upscale restaurant environment

· High school diploma or equivalent preferred

· Possess Food Handlers/Serve Safe certificate and Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) training certificate as required by law

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

· Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time, at least eight hours

· Ability to walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, crouch, bend, stretch, twist, and reach

· Ability to push, pull, carry, and lift at least 40 pounds on a regular basis
