Class Summary
Under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor II/Coordinator and the pool management, Cashiers are responsible for greeting guests, monitoring patron entry, collecting entry fees and class registration using a point of sale system while interacting in a friendly and courteous manner with the public. Cashiers will also be responsible for maintaining a clean office, keeping paperwork organized and supplies stocked. 
 
Typical Schedule: This is a seasonal, part-time position from spring to fall with varying assigned days and hours including weekend and holidays.


The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices:

  • Responsible for the collection of fees and registrations in the form of cash and credit cards using provided Point of Sale (POS) software on a computer or tablet. 
  • Print reports and reconcile daily sales.
  • Uses strong customer service and interpersonal skills during public contact during the conduct of activities. 
  • Prepares and maintains accurate program and other records as needed.
  • Acts as Department representative to local residents, community groups, private businesses, and others concerning questions, problems, concerns, and activities in the provision of recreation programs and facility operations.
  • Position may cross train with White Rock Splash Park Attendants for additional hours. 
  • Attends all trainings when provided.
  • The Cashier may also perform other nonessential duties as assigned.

Knowledge of:
  • Math skills such as addition and subtraction.
  • Cash handling and money counting procedures.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Basic office procedures, methods, and equipment including computers.
Ability to:
  • Process all transactions using computer with software provided.
  • Handle money.
  • Work independently once trained.
  • Uses strong customer service and interpersonal skills during public contact during the conduct of activities.
  • Help maintain a clean and efficient office area for all staff.
  • Make frequent decisions and maintain concentration with distractions.
  • Remain calm under pressure.
  • Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Education and Experience GuidelinesAny combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
  • Formal or informal education or training that ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.

Certifications: Applicants are encouraged to maintain certifications in Standard First Aid, and Community CPR.
Physical Requirements:

  • Mobility and dexterity to work in a standard office setting.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather
  • Ability to work at various locations throughout the District.

  • Strength and agility to lift and carry items weighing up to 20 pounds.
