JOB FUCTION AND SCOPE

This role supports the Manufacturing team in Milwaukee. The Manufacturing Process Engineer participates in the development of the processes, tooling and equipment for the facility. The Manufacturing Process Engineer also researches new equipment, including cost comparison, justification and implementation of the equipment.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1.  Manufacturing Engineering (30%)
    1. Provide recommendations for improvements to the manufacturing processes in the facility
    2. Directs and coordinates equipment installation activities
    3. Develop methods and procedures for testing products and processes.
    4. Determines the routing structure and production rates within the facility
    5. Works with other support departments to implement project work.
  2. Process Improvement (20%)
    1. Analyze and identify changes to the manufacturing process to increase the efficiency of the process
    2. Analyze and identify changes to the set-up process to reduce the amount of downtown related to transitioning the equipment.
    3. Analyze and identify changes to the cost structure of each product in order to identify cost reductions
  3. New Product Development (10%)
    1. Analyze designs from others for manufacturability and feasibility for manufacture in the facility
    2. Determine the routing structure in order to develop the quote for the customer
  4. Lean Manufacturing (30%)
    1. Facilitate and support Kaizen activities in the facility
    2. Develop and implement work instructions for all processes after optimization
  5. All other duties as assigned (10%)

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Required:
  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • 3 – 5 years’ of experience in project management
  • 3 – 5 years’ experience with programming of FANUC robotics
  • 5 or more years’ of experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • 3 – 5 years’ of experience with CNC Programming
  • Experience and/or training with Microsoft Office and SolidWorks
Preferred:
  • 3 – 5 years’ of experience with PLC selection, programming, and troubleshooting
  • 3 – 5 years’ of experience in cutting tool design
  • Previous experience in a foundry environment
  • Experience and/or training with any of the following:  SolidWorks EPDM, CamWorks, SAP, Nova Flow and Solid, and Flow 3D

LANGUAGE SKILLS
  • Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write correspondence and technical documentation.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Uses higher level math skills associated with geometric shapes and not limited to addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of numbers, including decimals and fractions.
  • Knowledge and prediction of physical principles, laws, their interrelationships, and applications to understanding fluid, and material dynamics, and mechanical processes.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Apply mathematical operations of frequency distribution, test reliability and validity.

REASONING ABILITIES
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or scheduled form
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the work day.
  • Must be able to detect castings, cores and machining fixture problems as they occur.
  • The person in the position frequently communicates with employees and vendors throughout the day.  Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Operate and use a computer on a daily basis.
  • The person in this position needs to be able to move within the professional office and the shop floor environment.
