Under general supervision, oversee slope stability management functions including pit slope, stockpile stability and serve as resource for Geomechanical information and analysis.
Manage and provide Geomechanical project oversight and review relating to outside consultants, pit slope water control, structural geology, design slope angles and interfacing with mine design and planning
Manage and review slope stability data collection, analysis and remedial work including slope monitoring data processing, rock strength parameters, geologic structures, slope control blast designs, and slope angle reviews
Manage, conduct and communicate the results of inspections of pit walls, stockpiles and site access roads
Proactively seek improvements to the safe mining of mine reserves relating to slope monitoring, slope maintenance, slope and catch bench designs, blasting, Geomechanical data acquisition and analysis
Usage of appropriate software (MS Office, AutoCAD) and Geotechnical data analysis, Mintec's MineSight (or equivalent)
Senior Geomechanical Engineer (Mine Geotechnical) Position Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mine Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related Engineering discipline and five (5) years of Engineering experience in hard rock mining relating to rock mechanics and rock slope stability, OR
Master's degree in Mine Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related Engineering discipline and three (3) years of Engineering experience in hard rock mining relating to rock mechanics and rock slope stability
Knowledge of the principles and practices of Mining, Mining Engineering and Geotechnical applications in a hard rock open pit mine environment
Skill in managing Engineering projects related to a hard rock open pit setting
Understanding in the usage of appropriate software (MS Office, AutoCAD) and Geotechnical data analysis, Mintec's MineSight (or equivalent)
