Job Summary
The Compliance Partner will partner with leaders to provide strategic compliance guidance related to Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statue (AKS) and Physician compensation.
Responsible for creating and maintaining positive relationships between client groups and the Compliance Centers of Expertise (COEs) to create and sustain a proactive compliance program. Including consulting with legal attorneys.
Responsible for strategically advising on division-wide (Corewell West, South and East) and client group specific initiatives that address strategic and operational goals. Acts as a valuable member of teams to solve complex compliance challenges and offer operational leaders with novel solutions and ideas. Will partner with leaders to provide support related to compliance, privacy, accreditation and regulatory issues or projects.
The Compliance Partner will collaborate with the Compliance COEs in creating and developing programs that will support the strategies, initiatives and goals of the organization.
Remote work for this position may be approved based on policy and business considerations. Some states are not eligible for remote work (CA & NY).
Essential Functions
Strategically advise on division-wide and client group specific initiatives that address strategic and operational goals. Provide strategic compliance guidance and support to leaders on issues related to compliance, privacy, accreditation and regulatory requirements while ensuring a collaborative and engaged work environment.
Acts as a valuable member of project teams to solve complex compliance challenges and offer operational leaders with novel solutions and ideas. Drives business growth by advising on compliance and regulatory considerations for new business ventures. Support operational teams by identifying risk mitigation techniques and/or activities to support project or program development.
Utilizes resources within the Compliance COEs to identify strategic needs of client groups to drive culture of accountability and desired work environment for the business. Works with operational leaders to implement developed by the Compliance COEs. Shares client and business insights with the Compliance COEs to shape risk assessments, work plans and education to create and sustain a best-in-class compliance program.
Acts as an informal mentor, coach and leader to the Compliance Generalists.
Leads or performs investigations and audits of compliance issues and/or works with Compliance COEs and legal counsel to determine the appropriate handling of such issues. Directs and oversees resolution of compliance issues referred for investigation. From time to time, performs investigations at the direction of legal counsel and works with legal counsel in the course of such investigation to provide guidance, recommendations and other assistance as requested by legal counsel. In such cases, the employee will report directly to legal counsel as opposed to employee’s leadership, and such work with legal counsel shall be confidential and protected from disclosure by the attorney client privilege and work product protection.
Provides support to and/or facilitates operational and Board compliance committees.
Works with operational leaders and Compliance COEs to develop and monitor internal controls including corrective action in response to investigations and audits to detect and/or prevent illegal, unethical or improper conduct by employees, agents, affiliated providers or others within the health system.
Responsible for knowledge and interpretation of various rules, regulations and standards that impact healthcare delivery; in consultation, as necessary, with legal counsel and Compliance COEs. Responsible for communicating such rules, regulations, and standards to leadership and team members through a variety of means.
Qualifications
Required Bachelor's Degree Business, health care operations, nursing or other related area, or equivalent combination of education and experience
7 years of relevant experience Progressive compliance experience and/or clinical or operational leadership experience Required
