Job Summary
Works with the Administrator, Laboratory Services along with the respective medical director, as a change leader in the operational management of the Beaumont Laboratory. Duties include strategic planning, serve as a role model for change, strive to improve personnel and process performances through Six Sigma and Lean initiatives, budget preparation/development, serve as a laboratory division liaison with other divisions assuring quality compliant laboratory services. This position reports to Administrator, Laboratory Services.
Essential Functions
Operations management: Oversee day-to-day operations of specified lab sections, evaluate available resources and make recommendations to improve services and environment. Provide statistics, information, reports and updates to Administrative and Pathology staff, assure compliant lab procedures/processes with various regulatory and accrediting agencies. Participates/chairs laboratory committees as applicable/assigned.
Strategic planning: Participate in intra-divisional committees and partner with Beaumont Laboratory Administration (hospital and medical) to provide leadership regarding change management and culture change, assist in forming and communicating the lab’s vision, goals and challenges to the lab/hospital team.
Staff Assessment and Development: Participate in personnel management including the hiring process, corrective action process, evaluation of current and future job families/ responsibilities, development and creation of future job opportunities, advise employees regarding policies and procedures.
Interdepartmental Activities: Act as a Beaumont Laboratory liaison for various hospital committees, provide information and problem solving for interdepartmental issues.
Financial Development: Work with administration to plan, develop and monitor cost containment and revenue enhancement concepts for all levels of the laboratory division.
Quality Development: Utilizing Lean and Six Sigma techniques, drive quality initiatives to improve service levels and work environment at all levels of the Laboratory division.
Process and IT System Design/Improvement: Act as a change leader for IT driven processes, utilize IT functionality to minimize manual decision processes to improve efficiency and consistency.
Qualifications
- Required Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in science related field
Preferred Master's Degree or equivalent- 5 years of relevant experience 5 years’ experience in the laboratory discipline. Required
3 years of relevant experience 3 years management level experience. Required- CRT-Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification (CSSBB) - UNKNOWN Unknown Upon Hire preferred
