Job Summary - Director, Grad Medical Education Operations

Provides leadership and direction in the management of the educational requirements and operations for graduate medical education, in collaboration with the accreditation and compliance director. Manage graduate medical education department and staff through planning, organizing, monitoring, leading and educating. Ensure compliance with governing regulations associated with GME. Collaborate with hospital departments, hospital staff, and affiliates to ensure the successful delivery of graduate medical education for our residents.

Essential Functions - Director, Grad Medical Education Operations

  • Provides quality evaluation and feedback for all assigned staff. Addresses issues in a timely and effective manner. Escalates issues and utilizes appropriate leadership to source solutions.
  • Provides oversight of curriculum, performance assessment and faculty development of residency and fellowship programs.
  • Ensures GME staff and residents are in compliance with policies, procedures, as well as Federal and State laws.
  • Provides oversight and direction for related data and measurable outcomes. Serves as a resource for struggling learner and learning/corrective action processes regarding resident/fellow physicians.
  • Responsible for the oversight of operations within GME, including but not limited to, central scheduling, CMS cost reports, and UGME (undergraduate medical education) and APP scheduling resources.
  • Provides for the development and monitoring of departmental budget to ensure it contributes positively to the overall
    financial results. Understands the budget process utilized for residency and fellowship programs and associated financial
    results to ensure programs function in a fiscally responsible manner
  • Participates in the strategic planning/implementation and operational processes for GME and represents Corewell Health at
    various events.
  • Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate and completes all position and unit
    safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis.
    Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications -Director, Grad Medical Education Operations

  • Required Bachelor's Degree Business, Healthcare or related field, Master's Degree preferred
  • 5 years of relevant experience - Healthcare leadership and operational experience - Required
  • 3 years of relevant experience Experience working with Graduate Medical Education - preferred
