GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the site designated leader, assigns and monitors the work of the Ultra sonographers to optimize quality and efficiency. Acts as a resource for ultrasound staff/department. Performs diagnostic ultrasounds and other related duties to ensure department policies and imaging standards are met. Follows Corewell Health philosophy of Patient and Family Centered Care at all times.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Assist with daily operations, assigns the daily work schedules of ultrasonographers and monitors patient schedule to ensure efficient and safe patient flow.
- Helps ensures staff maintains the highest quality of image for radiology interpretation.
- Assist in the monitoring of equipment for optimal functionality and takes appropriate corrective action for failures.
- Assists leadership in site and system objective goals.
- Demonstrates leadership and conflict resolution skills through effective problem solving.
- Effective inter/intra-departmental communication and participation with medical staff, management, technical and support staff.
- Accurately and efficiently uses hospital computer systems for verifying orders, viewing schedules, and sending information to PACS.
- Assist in training new staff/students, annual staff competencies, interview process/candidate selection, payroll, scheduling.
- Performs duties of Ultrasound Technologist to support efficient flow of patients through department.
- Assist with obtaining quality images for the ACR accreditation process.
- Supports higher level responsibilities in the absence of the supervisor/manager.

STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS

Education / Training:
- Graduate of Diagnostic Ultrasound Program or equivalent.
Work Experience:
- 3-5 years' clinical experience Ultrasound staff sonographer level preferred.
Certification, Licensure, Registration:
- Registered by American Registry Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
- Must be registered in at least one (ABD or OB/GYN) at time of hire.
- Additional registry within 1 year from hire.
Other Qualifications:
- Basic Life Support Certification for Healthcare Providers at hire through the American Heart Association and/or the American Red Cross.
