Cornell University’s Statler Hotel has launched a search for a part-time S02 Server to join our Meetings & Events Team. Event Servers are key members on our M&E Team, working alongside our Banquet Captains, Supervisors and Managers helping us to train our student staff and deliver a WOW to guests of the Statler Hotel.
This is a great opportunity for someone who has an interest in banquet and conference services operations. Meetings & Events is an exciting department to work in, with a wide variety of events, including meetings, conferences, recruiter events, breakfasts, lunches, and dinners, cocktail receptions, weddings, bar mitzvahs and other high-profile, special events. Every day is different, as we create those uniquely crafted experiences that our guests will be talking about for a long time!


Your role as a Meetings & Events Server:

Responsible for the set-up, breakdown, and service of all events held at The Statler Hotel, including but not limited to conferences and meetings, social gathers such as weddings, birthday parties, and galas, as well as job fairs and recruiting events. Provide professional and prompt service to all clients of the hotel. Assist with the guidance and mentorship of student workers during shifts. Weekly hours and schedule will fluctuate based on business volume, must be available to work holidays, nights, and weekends.


Required Qualifications:

Well versed in food, alcohol and general guest service. Able to meet client and guest requests with prompt responses, professional and pleasant demeanor. Must be detail oriented, self-starting and committed to providing excellent service fitting of a four-diamond property.


Preferred Qualifications:

1 or more years of experience in an Events setting.
