Position Purpose: Provides strategic and operational leadership as well as medical and utilization management expertise to the Medical Affairs organization at Centene.Lead a corporate team committed to advancing healthcare outcomes for our members through innovative and cost-effective utilization management, clinical and payment policy, and specialty centers of excellence.Establish collaborative relationships with cross-functional divisions at both enterprise level and across health plans.
Identify and deliver on Medical Affairs KPIs/metrics that are aligned with the strategic direction of the organization.
Provide direction and oversight for medical management teams to achieve best in class performance through regular review and analysis of UM related productivity and quality data.
Serve as a subject matter expert on utilization management and healthcare delivery trends and practices.
Identify trends and opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation in UM process.
Engage in regular analysis of medical care cost and utilization data to inform HBR initiatives.
Actively engage with other leaders in the company to ensure an integrated, cross-departmental, data-driven clinical approach to population health for our members.
Support the development and implementation of quality improvement, care management, and disease management programs to drive value through improved healthcare outcomes and reduced costs.
Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including providers, payers, and government agencies.
Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
Collaborate with and contribute to breadth of cross-functional product lines involving Medical Affairs (Medicaid, Marketplace, Medicare)
Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Health, or Healthcare Administration. Doctorate degree in Medicine or Osteopathy required. Must be Board Certified. 10+ years of progressive experience in relevant areas, including but not limited to Clinical Practice, HMO/ Managed Care experience, including Utilization and/ or Quality Program Management, or as a Medical Director. Minimum 5 years in Clinical practice. 5+ years of people leadership experience preferred.
Certification:
• Active and unrestricted Current Medical License without restrictions (free of sanctions from Medicaid or Medicare)
• Active and unrestricted current Drug Enforcement Agency Certificate
