ABM Operator - 3rd Shift- Greenville
Base Pay: $13.00 Shift Differential of $1.25/hr
3rd Shift Hours: 10pm-6am (SUN-THUR w/start on SUN)

Job Summary:

Machine parts per print for customer orders at various work stations throughout the press area. Machine parts in a timely manner for production purposes. Complies with current ISO requirements, all safety requirements, and good housekeeping.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • To operate machinery per requirements of the print specifications, shop order, and inspection charts.
  • Assure that machine is operated with the proper coolants, lubricants, and other fluid levels maintained.
  • Perform at a level to maintain production standards.
  • May be required to work at any workstation to meet production requirements.
  • Inspect product to assure continued conformance to specifications.
  • When required, performs rework to nonconforming product.
  • Completes all documentation associated with the operation.
  • Maintains the workstation area in a clean and orderly condition.
  • May be required to train any new employee assigned to the area.
  • Performs other duties as directed by supervisors.

  • Explain the operation the trainee will be learning and how it fits into the entire picture and process.
  • Explain the routing of the product before this task and afterwards.
  • Introduce the trainee to the area setup person, inspector and nearby employees who may be able to provide assistance when needed.
  • When the trainee must leave the immediate work area, the trainer should be informed.
  • Machines must be kept as clean as possible to prevent injuries, machine damage and defects in the quality of the product. Explain the clean-up procedure for the end of the shift and the shop order.
  • The floor in the work area should be kept clean and dry to avoid falls and injuries
  • Keep hands away from moving machinery parts.
  • Protective guards must be kept in place while the machinery is running.
  • When a problem arises, press the "STOP button immediately and contact the set-up person or supervisor.
  • Do not tamper with electrical controls, switch boxes and air valves. Contact the setup person if a problem arises in these units.
  • When loading machinery, make sure parts are properly secured in the fixture before starting the machinery.
  • Do not leave assigned machinery running and leave the work area.
  • Safety measures must be used when lifting or moving product in baskets, drums containers and cartons. (Back supports are available for requesting employees).
  • Lock-Out mechanisms are required on machinery before servicing or maintenance is to begin. Trainees are to be instructed of what a Lockout/Tag out is, and what their responsibilities are when these conditions exist.
  • Watch out for damage contamination or deterioration of all products.
  • Show and explain the pertinent information on the shop order and part drawing such as order number, order requirements, work centers, quantity, and other requirements.
-Supervisors are responsible to instruct ABM set-up and ABM -Operators to take the following steps before making a tool change on the ABMS. See below:
  • Turn off tool change switch provided on the ABM operators panel using a key.
-Remove key from the switch and "Tag Out the machine.("Tag -Out form will be provided at the machine)
  • Depress on/off key pad on the ABM control panel to ensure machine is completely locked out of power.
  • Make the tool change.
  • Remove "Tag Out and turn on the machine using the tool switch. (leave key in the tool switch)

Preferred Skills:

-Language Skills - Good communication skills are key. -Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
-Mathematical Skills- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. -Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Experience working with consolidations.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Need to be able to exercise good judgment and decision making skills. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
-Computer Skills - To perform this job successfully, an individual should have Other Skills and Abilities - Must be detail oriented. Must be organized and have the ability and drive to meet deadlines and work under pressure.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily and meet the physical demands to successfully perform the essential function of this job. At CMCs discretion, exceptions to these can be made to accommodate individual circumstances.

Education and/or experience:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred. Employee must be able to perform basic reading, writing and mathematical functions.
  • Language Skills Ability to read and write. Ability to read and comprehend instructions, memorandums and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with others both orally and in writing.
  • Mathematical Skills Basic mathematical skills are required. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
  • Reasoning Ability Ability to understand and carry out detailed written and oral instructions.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registration Fork Lift.
  • Physical Requirements The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities include close vision, color, distance, peripheral and ability to adjust focus.
