JOB DESCRIPTION

Shift -
Standard work hours: 7AM – 3:30PM with the opportunity of Overtime.

The safety Assistant is responsible for helping to continually drive a safe work environment for the Ephrata PA fabrication plant. Assists with Industrial Hygiene Sampling, SDS Review, planning, implementing, auditing and training to reduce or eliminate occupational injuries, illness and financial losses. Assists with all aspects of plant safety and health including, but not limited to: safety compliance, emergency response, safety audits and inspections, incident investigations, safety committee leadership, safety teams, New Employee Safety training and other safety training as needed. Responsibilities include assisting the Production Manager in various activities that align with key performance indicators (KPI)

o Strong self-direction and motivation is required
o Provides information to Production Manager and Production Supervisors
regarding compliance with Federal and State OSHA regulations
o Complies, analyzes, and interprets statistical date, prepares reports for daily,
weekly, and monthly safety activities
o Must have good oral and written skills
o Detail oriented and ability to prioritize and delegate
o Knowledge of hazardous materials, safety practices and SDS information
o Knowledge of performing safety inspections and providing detailed corrective
action recommendations to management
o Ability to provide New Employee Orientation safety training
o Administer, maintains data base on Respiratory Protection and Hearing
Conservation Programs
o Administer, maintains records and data base for all safety training
o Attend monthly safety committee meetings to conduct training, and identify
immediate items that need to be addressed
o Maintain current file on all needed Data Safety Sheets
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • · 1-2 years of safety environmental experience outlining and implementing
programs regarding employee safety procedures, practices and accident protection
and prevention in heavy manufacturing industry preferred
  • · Computer skills – Microsoft Office, Word, Excel
  • · Interpersonal skills
  • · Ability to meet and exceed deadlines and expectations
  • · Clear and conceptual thinking, ability, excellent judgement
