Corthell Transportation also supports legal freight/small oversize loads that require a smaller set up. They offer low profile step decks that better accommodate height than standard step decks. Additionally, the company offers hard to come by long haul winch trucks which can handle freight required to be loaded by the driver and hauled short or long distances.

Position Purpose
Corthell Transportation is looking for an experienced Heavy Haul Driver to join their company. This position will be a crucial member of the driver team to transport oversize and overweight freight safely and efficiently across the country. We are a medium sized trucking company that runs heavy haul, multi axle and extendable trailers to transport various heavy equipment including oilfield equipment, compressors, drill rigs, generators, buildings, and more.
This position will report to Mark Corthell the owner and operations manager. He has over 40 years of experience with Heavy Haul trucking, driving himself and 10 years of company management.

Duties and Responsibilities
The person that will fill this position will be a motivated self-starter that can effectively manage their time and maintain remote communication via phone and email. A successful Driver will be passionate about going above and beyond to get loads delivered.
The job responsibilities of this role are highly time sensitive; the ideal candidate will have an excellent safety record and driving experience.
Heavy Haul Driver Responsibilities:
- Safely and efficiently load and deliver oversize and overweight loads across the country
- Be able to load and unload machinery as needed
- Be fluent in load securement and tie-down laws and practices.
- Ability to read and understand maps and routing.
- Knowledge of state weight allowances
- Knowledge of state laws for oversize loads and pilot car requirements by state
- Knowledge of Hours of Service and using ELD’s to drive and deliver loads
- Communication with dispatcher regarding anticipation of permit and needs
- Consistent communication with dispatcher & accounting teams as well as drivers
Qualifications
Required:
- A Current Class A CDL
- Clean MVR and clean inspection record
- 5 years Commercial Driving experience
- 2 years Heavy Haul Driving Experience
- Pre-Employment qualifications and drug screening
Preferred:
- Experience with stretch trailers and multi-axle step and RGN trailers
- Machine operating experience for loading and unloading
- Ability to read and understand maps and routing.
- Robust understanding of various truck and trailer configurations
- Working knowledge of industry practices and regulations including state specific requirements (focus on west coast and mid-western states).
- Strong, effective written and verbal communication with the ability to interact well with others.
- Able to work remotely via phone and receive and print paperwork by email.
- Adaptable to a fast-paced environment
- Experience with using pilot cars
- Problem solving skills
