As an Assistant Corporate Controller, you support the overall accounting, reporting, and operations of the Cortland enterprise. Here are the roles you’ll play:
The Manager
- Lead and manage a dynamic team of full cycle accountants. Responsible for hiring, training and staff development
- Oversee the month-end and year-end close processes for designated corporate entities and departments
- Review assigned financials and reconciliations to ensure accuracy
The Collaborator
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP along with preparations for audit and tax filings
- Work closely with the Corporate Controller and Vice President of Corporate Accounting to achieve a wide variety of goals
- Work jointly with business partners on the rollout of corporate initiatives
The Creator
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Ad hoc projects focusing on process creation and improvements

Building Blocks of Success:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required; CPA is a plus
- 5 years in the accounting field (real estate accounting a plus) with working knowledge of GAAP
- 2 years of managerial experience
- Strong supervisory and management skills
- Strong independent decision-making ability, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Great time management and ability to meet deadlines
- Very good communication and interpersonal skills
- Well-organized and ability to prioritize
- Working knowledge of MS Office (especially excel) and accounting software programs; RealPage experience is a plus
- Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting etc.)
- Highly analytical with strong attention to detail
