We are looking for a highly motivated Buyer/Planner. This is a great opportunity to be a significant contributor to the success of a small, dynamic company. This is a full-time, first shift position.
Primary Responsibilities: Buyer position
- Perform all buying functions for electronic components and MRO buys
- Take action when appropriate to report any noted concerns regarding lead times, obsolescence or other issues that may impact delivery.
- Update MRP accordingly with any required updates. Schedule changes, manage releases and new order entries. Run MRP when requested.
- Expedite orders from time to time on critical products.
- Cooperate with team members and support directions provided by immediate supervisor.
- Negotiate best possible prices for all new orders.
- Ensure orders are meeting intended arrivals to meet committed schedules. Work with suppliers to track on time delivery progress and highlight any needs for improvement to supplier.
- Ability to create custom spreadsheets to analyze data when requested.
- Build relationships with critical suppliers and help to develop a strong dialog and good reporting.
- Participate where necessary to help achieve department goals and objectives.
- Utilize internal MRP systems and appropriate databases to update product and customer files as required.
- Analyze supplier capabilities, help to establish agreements, ensure flow downs are passed to suppliers properly and addressed.
- Suggest changes to standard processes when necessary.
- Problem solver for incoming QC issues related but not limited to conformal coating, board cleaning etc.
- Handle weekly any product assigned from dispositioned from MRB Material Review Board.
- Update inventory status weekly for production team
- Work cross functionally with Production Control, Production Team, Customer Service, Sales, Program Managers, Engineering, etc.
- Use ERP report writer to analyze data.
- Review and act on past due PO’s weekly
Primary Responsibilities: Planning position
- Coordinate production workflow by releasing workorders to the production department using MRP and Tracker to meet the sales demand.
- Denote which orders are Prepay and NPI Orders
- Release workorders as needed by repair department and engineering.
- Plan and prioritize operations to ensure maximum performance and minimum delay.
- Determine which weeks orders can ship based on material lead-time, labor resource and capacity on the production floor.
- Work with Production Control Coordinator to prioritize floor and run weekly production meetings.
- Monitor jobs to ensure they will finish on time.
- Update required dates as orders are rescheduled to meet customer demand. Change dates for all work-order levels in ERP, reprint new paperwork, retrieve original paperwork from the production floor.
- Address issues when they arise aiming for minimum disruption.
- Collaborate with sales, materials, production, quality control, warehouse, and other staff as required/Track production capacity available for future order scheduling.
- Analyze potential demand from Sales using BOM Exploder to check for material availability and the timing of shipping for sales quoting purposes. Take into consideration special operations such as:
- EES testing, Conformal Coating, board washing, sales order rating, NPI, API, Source Inspection, Special Packaging, customer payment status (prepay, credit card, Net-30, etc.)
- Determine the status of new orders as to its readiness to be released or if it needs more work before it can be released (IPC, ECO in process and complete engineering review).
Requirements:
- Proven prior experience as a Buyer (Preference in Electronics Environment)
- May participate in new vendor qualification process including potential audits.
- May be asked to pick up or drop off product from suppliers from time to time.
- Proven Planning skills related to releasing and monitoring work orders.
- BS Degree or equivalent experience required.
- Attention to detail.
- Excellent customer service skills
- Must have excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite of products including Word, Excel, Power Point
- Experience with Defense programs a plus.
- Familiarity with Silicon Experts a plus
- Superior problem-solving abilities.
- React in a timely manner.
- Good math skills
- Communicates well with immediate team members.
- Self-guided, can work well on their own as well as a team player.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Maintains expert level product knowledge and application.
- Visual MRP experience a plus, should have prior MRP and CRM experience.
- Outstanding organizational skills
- Technical expertise and an understanding of electronic principles highly desired.
- Invest time required to complete assignments thoroughly.
- Other tasks and special projects as assigned.
- US Citizenship required due to government contract regulations.
