Assistant Store Manager

Mission: Deliver the World’s Best Luxury Beauty Buying Experience
Reports To: Store Manager
Classification: Non-Exempt
Pay Range: $20-$21 plus commission
MAIN JOB OBJECTIVE
The Assistant Store Manager assists the Store Manager in motivating and inspiring their team to achieve store productivity goals. They help the Store Manager to analyze week to date, period to date, and year to date sales, and develop action plans to drive top line sales. Other responsibilities include; managing payroll budgets to ensure the store's contribution is on target, ensuring the individual and collective skills of the team are utilized effectively, and both the staff and customer experience is positive. Assists Store Manager in recruiting and hiring appropriately to ensure the store is fully staffed at all times. Effectively manages store operations, ensuring consistency and compliance.

  • Assists Store Manager in responsibility for the store
  • Consistently creates a welcoming environment for the customer by greeting and assisting; as well as quickly responding to escalated customer and staff inquiries and needs
  • Demonstrates desired behaviors for staff including driving sales, handling difficult and/or complicated sales, cash management, inventory, and follow-up with customers
  • Assists Store Manager with providing a strong leadership presence and control in store, while ensuring that all customers receive good service and quality merchandise
  • Utilizes company tools to diagnose opportunities and develops action plans to improve performance
  • Partnering with store manager to forecasts/reforecast business, focusing on productivity to meet sales goals
  • Assist in processing store payroll in absence of store manager
  • Identifies opportunities to drive traffic into the store through community events (local charities, private parties, influential community groups etc.)
  • Regularly communicates with Store Manager to discuss strengths, opportunities, and trends in business
  • Assists Store Manager in partnering with corporate office personnel to increase sales, drive/promote merchandise categories, and expand markets
  • Helps Store Manager in identifying training needs and providing ongoing training opportunities to the team as needed
  • Partners with store manager to leverage individual staff strengths, and creates developmental plans to prepare all level positions for future growth within the organization
  • Assists in hiring to the needs of the business, actively recruiting to ensure open positions are filled quickly
  • Assists Store Manager in delivering consistent, in the moment, feedback and coaching of staff
  • Ensures company standards are met for store and associate appearance at all times
  • Partnering with store manager to prioritizes, plans, and adjusts schedules as necessary to maximize sales
  • Executes all Merchandise Calendar direction, campaigns, and sales promotions in a timely manner as directed by the corporate offices and marketing department
  • Ensures all pricing, signage, and displays are correct at all times
  • Receives regular vendor deliveries and coordinates stock sales floor in a timely manner
  • Responsible for communicating special needs in certain inventory stock levels
  • Enforces all company policies and procedures, including health, safety, and security
  • Manages and controls shrink through proper RTV processes
  • Performs all other duties as directed by store manager and based on business needs
Work Environment
This job operates in a retail environment with merchandise displays and items available for purchase in inventory.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time retail store position, and hours of work and days may vary depending upon business needs. This position regularly may require long hours and frequent weekend work not excluding holidays.

Travel
This position may require some travel based on business needs.

PRINCIPAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in business or related discipline

Work Experience:
  • 1-3 years’ experience in luxury retail store management
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Must be an excellent organizer and problem solver with strong management skills
  • Proven track record of strong selling skills
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills to communicate with confidence to both internal and external customers
  • Proven experience in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong people and managerial skills
  • Strong knowledge of luxury skincare/fragrance and cosmetics industry
  • Preferred experience and knowledge of all Microsoft software (i.e. Excel, word etc.) and email (Outlook), POS (Counter point)
