Summary:
We are seeking a meticulous and skilled Finishing Artist and Archivist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in conforming, color correction, media management, and archiving. This role requires a keen eye for detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently.
Responsibilities:
Conform and Resolve:
Manage and troubleshoot Resolve licenses.
Work with high-resolution masters (24k) and resolve issues related to rendering and conforming.
Employ techniques to ensure accurate cut points and framing.
Utilize traditional conform skills, including project and timeline setup, EDLs, eye matching, applying repos, time warps, stabilizes, and keyframes.
Organize finishing/conform projects within Resolve and on the file system.
Handle video conforming and finishing processes for various projects, including trailers and hall comps.
Color Correction:
Validate and match color for CG/PreRendered shows.
Apply color space transforms and work with colorists to apply grades to full-resolution EXRs.
Update grades post-colorist work as needed.
Cubemap and Nuke:
Manage Nuke licenses and ensure correct execution of renders.
Troubleshoot render failures and manage frame intervals.
Ensure correct pathing, syntax, and color transforms on read/write nodes.
Navigate Nuke and perform necessary post-processes.
Cleanup and Fixes:
Perform cleanup, compositing, and VFX tasks using tools like Flame, Mocha, and SynthEyes.
Assist artists with roto and other compositing tasks.
Encoder Management:
Run the company encoder using .json files and PowerShell.
Validate frames and mix using FFMpegProbe tool commands.
Manage symlinking for projects with complex file structures.
Hardware and Media Management:
Swap internal PC components and troubleshoot external drives.
Organize and manage media storage, including consolidating and backing up.
Implement and manage Shotgrid workflow.
Archiving:
Maintain organized archives on server systems.
Ensure permanent deletion of frames when necessary to free up space.
Requirements:
4 years of experience in finishing, conforming, and archiving.
Proficiency in DaVinci Resolve, Nuke, SynthEyes, and other relevant software.
Strong understanding of color correction and media management.
Excellent organizational and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Unreal Engine certification is a plus.
The annualized base salary range for this position in California is $105,000 to $140,000. The base salary offered will factor in internal equity and may also vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and relevant experience, among other factors.
