Production Manager

Job Title: Production Manager

The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing processes, people, and equipment in a manufacturing plant. They are charged with the planning, directing, and coordinating all production on the factory floor. This leader will have responsibility for the safety of the production team, quality of the production work, planning and scheduling production, filling, assembly, packaging, and all warehouse functions. The Director of Manufacturing will staff the team, track performance of employees, assure compliance to all GMPs and quality requirements.

Reports to: Sr Director of Manufacturing

Reporting to this position are the following positions:

• Floor Supervisors
• Production employees

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Direct, motivate, coach, and develop the production staff.
• Manage multiple direct reports along with multiple shifts with up to 100 manufacturing employees per shift.
• Hands on approach to problem solve production constraints and/or improve production capacity.
• Ensure adherence to Health/Safety & Environmental responsibilities.
• Assurance and compliance with all Quality Control programs/SOP’s (QA/QC)
• Ability to make decisions and solve problems while exhibiting situational judgement.
• Support problem solving and improvement projects initiated through LEAN manufacturing methods.
• Monitor productivity data and develop corrective action plans necessary to achieve productivity improvements.
• Use RedZone to improve OEE and production cost.
• Foster a Continuous Improvement/lean culture throughout the production operation.
• Diagnose equipment and packaging bottleneck issues for most effective and efficient utilization and output. Proactive problem solver.
• Performs any other duties or tasks that may be required of you by the company.
• Promotes and demonstrates behavior consistent with the company’s core values and policies.

KPIs:

• Safety – OSHA recordables, Injuries and near misses will be tracked and addressed.
• Quality – line checks in Redzone (>90%) and customer complaints will be actioned against.
• Cost – Budgeted expense, labor cost per unit and material waste will be tracked and addressed.
• Productivity – OEE is tracked in Redzone and will be monitored. Continuous improvement projects defined by line constraints and prioritized via company savings.
• Staffing levels will be controlled by the budget and by customer requirements – trained back-ups to support absence or attrition are required.
• Assuring the proper equipment is in production and/or capital is appropriated to meet customer demand (working in conjunction with the Sr. Director and CFO).

Experience/Skills:

• Experience in CPG manufacturing environment a must.
• 7 to 10 years progressive manufacturing management experience required.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in the cosmetic or pharmaceutical industry.
• Demonstrate leadership in production management, maintenance project management and continuous improvement.
• Leadership in warehouse and distribution areas.
• Competent in Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Strong background in safe work practices and committed to cGMP and FDA regulations.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities within established project deadlines.
• Effective analytical and problem-solving skills. Industrial Engineering mindset a plus.
• Effective communication, interpersonal and team building skills.
• Bilingual English/Spanish speaking a plus

Education:

• Four-year degree required, Business or Engineering.
