What are the responsibilities and job description for the Residency position at Cottage Grove Church?
Cottage Grove Church
Residency Program
About
Purpose Statement
Cottage Grove’s Residency Program exists to train, equip and mobilize leaders to advance God’s Kingdom as a part of the local church.
Vision
“And he said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” (Luke 10:02).
We desire to come alongside aspiring leaders in the church and to train, equip, and mobilize them to advance God’s Kingdom here on earth. After their time in the Residency Program, residents will be better equipped to serve the Church - whether vocationally or through serving as a high capacity leader wherever God may lead them. The Residency Program will help each individual better understand what they are called to do and how God has gifted them for ministry. As they are sent out of the Residency Program, residents will have a clarified vision of where they are going and will be equipped to be effective leaders in the Church for generations to come.
Who should apply for the Residency Program?
The Residency Program is designed for individuals who feel called to vocational ministry and desire to learn how to serve the Church.
This is a two-year, full time position that is 100% support-based. Please email Adam White at awhite@cottagegrovedsm.com if you would like more information or have any questions.
Core Development Areas
The Core Development Areas of the Residency Program will be blended in throughout the two year track.
For Bible education, we will be requiring residents to pursue a Masters of Christian Studies through Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. If there is another online distance learning program that a resident would like to consider, the Executive Pastor will help discern with the resident the best option(s) available.
For Formation and Leadership, residents will be assigned a Staff Mentor that will walk them through a two-year track of development in the aforementioned areas. There will also be occasional cohort style classes led by our pastoral team that residents will be required to participate in as a part of their training.
Responsibilities
Full-time residents will be required to work Sunday-Thursday, 40 hours per week minimum. They must attend Sunday gatherings, a Connection Group, monthly staff meetings, resident cohort meetings, as well as any other specific requirements.
Each resident will also be required to attend weekly mentor meetings with their assigned Staff Mentor.
