Job Title: Maintenance Technician or Senior Maintenance Technician

Hiring Manager: Director of Facilities
INTERRELATIONSHIPS:
Works closely with the Director, the Senior Technician and all other departments with which he may come in contact; also, with patients, visitors and outside contacts with vendors.
JOB SUMMARY:
Performs assigned preventive maintenance tasks, testing, inspections and on-site repairs when appropriate. Reports problems or potential problems to the Director. Completes in a timely manner, daily repair requests and assigned work requests involving: landscaping, automotive, carpentry, plumbing and basic electrical skills. Responsible and reliable problem solver that follows department Policies and Procedures. May supervise other department staff and or vendors as directed.

Education
Minimum High school diploma with One year of experience in maintenance work and building trades. General carpentry, plumbing, automotive and base electrical skills are must.
Work Experience
Must be familiar with building maintenance techniques, equipment and operation of plumbing, heating systems, sanitation, refrigeration, electrical systems. Must have general knowledge to be able to detect malfunctioning equipment and see that it is repaired. Strong trouble shooting skills are a must. Position requires the ability to work with minimal direction.
Physical Demands
Standing or walking more than 75% of the day. Handles loads weighing up to 50 lbs. with heavier loads handled with aid of helper or mechanical equipment. Stoops and climbs frequently. Works both inside and outside. May be required to work long hours under stress in an emergency situation.

The Maintenance department at Cottage Hospital provides support for all areas of the Hospital 24/7. We are a small campus facility in a non-urban setting with a diversified work load. Approximately 40% of this position involves routine tasks (planned and scheduled maintenance) throughout the campus. The balance of the work load is a mixed variety of landscaping, carpentry and plumbing tasks in all areas of the campus.
