COMPETITIVE PAY DEPENDENT UPON QUALIFICATIONS
Cotterman Company currently has an opening for an Assistant Engineering Manager in our Michigan Office. The primary function of this position is to assist in the development and oversight of managerial and administrative functions for the Engineering Department. Candidates must be able to commute to the Croswell, MI location or be in the process of relocating to the area. Benefits are available after a waiting period.
Basic and Essential Functions:
- Oversee and coordinate new product design and releases with manufacturing and inventory.
- Direct and assist Research & Development personnel during prototyping, build and testing.
- Assign tasks and direct staff in reaching on time project completion dates.
- Schedule and develop training through selection of materials for staff members as needed, to include engineering procedures and CAD system functions.
- Assist in the Company hiring process for engineering dept. staff
- Provide Sales support for customer questions and issues.
- Ensure the completion of CAD assemblies and details.
- Ensure the revision of documents due to product changes.
- Work with Project Engineers to complete layout of new products.
- Coordinate current and custom product changes with Manufacturing Engineering and Inventory Control Departments.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree required, discipline of Mechanical Engineering preferred.
- 3-5 Years of Design experience with a 3D Design Platform.
- Strong planning, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational, administrative, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong ability to read and understand drawings.
- Experience in managing Engineering staff in a product design environment.
- Ability to travel domestically.
- Strong experience in mechanical designs.
- Strong math and analytical skills.
- Ability to effectively use MS Office Suite.
- Reliable with excellent attendance record.
