Job Description: As a Coffee Roaster at Cottonwood Coffee, you will play a vital role in shaping the flavor profiles of our coffee by skillfully roasting our carefully sourced beans. You will be responsible for overseeing the entire roasting process, from selecting the appropriate green beans to achieving the optimal roast level, ensuring our customers enjoy the best possible coffee experience. Your passion for coffee, attention to detail, and commitment to quality will be instrumental in maintaining the high standards that define our brand.

Responsibilities:

Coffee Roasting: Operate and manage the coffee roasting equipment to roast beans to perfection, maintaining consistency and ensuring that each batch meets our quality standards.

Bean Selection: Collaborate with the sourcing team to evaluate and select green coffee beans from diverse regions, considering factors like origin, flavor profiles, and quality.

Roast Profile Development: Develop and refine roast profiles based on coffee bean characteristics, experimenting with various techniques to optimize flavor, aroma, and overall quality.

Quality Control: Conduct thorough sensory evaluations to ensure each roasted batch meets the company's taste and quality specifications.

Inventory Management: Track roasted coffee inventory levels and work with the production team to ensure that we maintain sufficient stock to meet customer demands.

Equipment Maintenance: Regularly clean and maintain the coffee roasting equipment, ensuring it operates at peak efficiency and adheres to safety guidelines.

Data Recording: Keep detailed records of roasting profiles, adjustments made, and any relevant data to ensure consistency in future batches.

Collaboration: Work closely with the production team and other departments to streamline operations and support the overall success of the company.

Research and Development: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, coffee innovations, and emerging technologies related to coffee roasting, sharing your knowledge with the team.

Health and Safety: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Coffee Roaster or similar role in a specialty coffee setting. (We will train the right applicant)
• Demonstrated expertise in the coffee roasting process, including profiling, batch sizing, and blending. (We will train the right applicant)
• In-depth knowledge of different coffee origins, varietals, and their respective flavor profiles. (We will train the right applicant)
• Strong sensory evaluation skills to assess coffee characteristics accurately. (We will train the right applicant)
• Ability to multitask, work efficiently under pressure, and meet production deadlines.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with various departments.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances and contribute to a dynamic work environment.
• A passion for sustainability, fair trade practices, and an understanding of ethical coffee sourcing.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $25.00 per hour
