Adult Programs and Tech Support Associate

Reports to: Executive Director
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Position: Part Time, 20 hours per week

POSITION SUMMARY

Cotuit Library’s Adult Programs and Technical Support Associate is a proactive, creative community builder. This dynamic individual creates and implements engaging adult and intergenerational programming and provides technical assistance for the public— ensuring that patron interests and needs are always at the heart of our work.

Outgoing and welcoming, the Adult Programming and Technical Support Associate is filled with positive energy, creates a clean, orderly, and comfortable space for patrons, and is an essential community invigorator for Cotuit Library.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Adult and Intergenerational Programming

· Develops, implements, and coordinates a full range of adult and intergenerational programs and events guided by the library’s strategic planning goals, with a sharp focus on community building and patron engagement.

· Maintains an up-to-date, detailed online programs calendar for patrons.

· Keeps programming statistics and assists the Executive Director as necessary to compile these statistics and prepare various reports.

· Works with the Programming and Outreach Coordinator to create publicity and secure grant funding for adult programs, events, and related services.

· Represents the Library at the CLAMS Program Planners roundtable and at local, regional, and state conferences as requested by the Executive Director. Attends various committee meetings as necessary.

· Collaborates with other staff members, libraries, the Town of Barnstable, non-profit organizations, and local businesses to enhance programs, expand services and ensure that Cotuit Library is leading community conversations.

Patron Technical Support

· Provides scheduled, weekly technical support for library patrons including one-on-one technical troubleshooting for personal devices (smartphones, tablets, e-readers, laptops), hosts workshops to enhance adult digital literacy, and trains patrons to use assistive technologies as requested.

· Assists patrons with wireless printing, faxing, and using the library’s Chromebooks.

Professional Development

· Maintains current knowledge of, and trends in adult and intergenerational programming, including literature, film and music, popular digital technologies, virtual and in-person programming, and related library services and resources.

· Seeks out continuing education and training opportunities for professional development.

Other Duties

· Performs circulation duties, which include the checking of materials in and out of the library for patrons, registering new patrons and entering them into the computer system, and answering the telephone as necessary. Respond to patrons' questions regarding reference materials or information.

· Proactively assists patrons in the use of the library to find appropriate materials.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

· An associate degree or better, with a focus on public programming, education, and adult health and wellness.

· Public teaching and instructing experience in a wide variety of audiences and settings.

· Expertise and confidence with computers, mobile devices and different social media platforms is required.

· A clean CORI/SORI background check required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position will require lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs., as well as reaching and climbing to retrieve and shelve books.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed collaboratively with a highly energetic and intergenerational creative team.

Work is performed under a combination of typical office and library conditions and off-site

conditions encountered when undertaking outreach activities.

Daily work is performed with computers, printers, facsimile machine, copier, calculator, telephone, and other standard digital equipment.

This is a public-facing position and requires appropriate business-casual attire and proper hygiene.

WORK SCHEDULE:

This is a part-time, 20 hours a week, non-exempt position.

Evening and weekend work will be necessary on a regular basis, and some programming work

may be required outside the Library's normal business hours.

The Adult Programs and Tech Support Associate is expected to attend staff meetings, training sessions, programs, and events at the request of the Executive Director.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
