Position: VP, Sales & Marketing 


FLSA Status: Exempt


Job Overview:

The VP, Sales, and Marketing is responsible for managing all brands, distribution channels, and sales for the organization. Responsibilities include developing strategic sales and marketing plans based on company goals that will promote long-term, sustainable growth, and customer satisfaction for the organization. Specific responsibilities include business and market development, customer management, management of market research, strategic direction for promotion and advertising, sales growth, and building long-term employee and client relationships. This role will lead the marketing, customer experience, retail, grocery, and wholesale divisions of the company. This seat is also responsible for achieving revenue, retention, and profitability targets.


As a VP, Sales & Marketing, you should use your creativity and thorough knowledge of sales and marketing processes to provide innovative ideas for sustainable business growth. Communication and team management skills are also essential for this position. Counter Culture leaders are smart, resourceful, and reliable, but first and foremost, they genuinely care about people and coffee.


Job Duties:

  • Develop and implement effective sales and marketing strategies that align with our commitment to provide quality, education, sustainability, and transparency in all aspects of the business. 
  • Develop a strategic business plan as well as sales, marketing, and business development go-to-market plans for each market segment.
  • Conduct market analysis to identify challenges and opportunities for growth
  • Identify key client personas and ensure we are targeting them effectively with messaging and product.
  • Thoroughly monitor competitors, products, pricing, market dynamics, and trends to create a differentiated position and messaging that drives multi-channel communications.
  • Establish openness, trust, and confidence with partners as well as internal teams.
  • Create and maintain accurate forecasts and budgets; provide regular updates of the ongoing pipeline.
  • Provide timely and effective solutions aligned with customer needs
  • Liaise with marketing and product development to ensure brand consistency
  • Guide strategy regarding new product launch implementation and related internal/external communications 


  • Requirements:
  • 5-10 years of successful sales and marketing leadership experience (preferably in the specialty food and beverage industry). Prior experience in a B-Corp certified organization preferred. 
  • Experience in creating and executing strategic plans.
  • Demonstrates successful sales attributes including resiliency, persistence, adaptability, results-driven, engaging others, teamwork, and perseverance. 
  • Strong analytical and project management skills
  • Consultative negotiation experience
  • Strong communication and team management skills
  • Knowledge of CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Availability to travel as needed
  • BS degree in Sales, Business Administration or relevant field, MBA Preferred


  • Physical Duties of this Job:
  • Physical activity: reaching, standing, walking; fingering; grasping; feeling; talking - those activities in which the incumbent must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to others; hearing; and repetitive motion.
  • Physical requirements: light work - exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up-to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
  • Visual acuity: requires close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; and extensive reading.
  • Working conditions: subject to environmental conditions - protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes; subject to noise - there is sufficient noise at times to cause the incumbent to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.


90 Day Goals:

  • Develop an understanding of our brand and core principles
  • Provide detailed assessment and recommendations for current Sales and Marketing strategy.
  • Generate KPI's and begin tracking departmental performance. 
  • Complete 3 Counter Intelligence Labs
