Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. As a Veterinary Technician, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to our animal patients. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting our veterinarian in medical procedures, administering medications, performing laboratory tests, and providing general care for animals. Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarian in medical procedures such as physical examinations, surgeries, and dental cleanings
- Perform venous catheterization (e.g., IV catheter placement) as well as venipuncture for blood sample collection
- Perform laboratory tests including blood work, urinalysis, and fecal examinations
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian
- Monitor patients during procedures and recovery, ensuring their safety and well-being
- Safely handle and restrain animals for examinations and procedures
- Maintain accurate electronic records of patient history and treatments received
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care and medication administration
- Clean and sterilize equipment and maintain a clean work environment
Requirements:
- Licensed/Certified Veterinary Technician or equivalent experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of animal handling and care techniques
- Proficient in performing laboratory tests and interpreting results
- Familiarity with animal physiology and common veterinary terminology
- Ability to operate X-ray and other lab diagnostic equipment is a plus
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to educate pet owners
- A compassionate and caring manner with pets and owners
