Welcome to Country Dairy! We’re hiring a Herd Manager for our farm in New Era, Michigan. Country Dairy is looking for the right candidate to influence and drive herd policy and maximize performance metrics by offering a seat at the management table. In this role you will oversee and manage milking, production, maternity, herd health, and 15-18 dairy farm employees. We are a fourth-generation family owned and operated dairy farm where we milk about 1,000 Holstein cows with 19 robotic milkers and grow primarily corn and alfalfa on about 2,000 acres across 2 locations. We are an on-farm dairy, processing the milk in our plant and putting it into all size containers. We also make ice cream, sour cream, chip dip, chocolate and strawberry milk, butter, eggnog, and more.

What you will be doing:
- Oversee and manage milking operations of 1200 cows.
- Manage herd health including maternity and young cattle.
- Manage production using data gleaned from Lely robots.
- Manage the breeding program for all of our Holstein cows
- Oversee and manage 15-18 employees.
- Developing new ideas to improve production, herd health, and improve our efficiencies.
This role is for you if you have:
- Experience as a Herdsperson, Herd Manager, or relatable herd management, dairy science, or dairy farm experience.
- High initiative and motivation with a passion for cows, livestock, and the dairy industry.
- Excellent communication skills, are ethical, and honest.
- Ability to develop and implement new ideas not only for production but also for us to market our milk.
