Housekeeping/Laundry Assistant - On Call *Multiple Day Shifts Available

Main Housekeeping Responsibilities:

• Disinfect, dust, mop, and clean mirrors, walls, and floors
• Empty garbage, organize furniture, and change cubicle curtains
• Use cleaning supplies and equipment according to guidelines
• Maintain neat and orderly work areas and utility rooms
• Report needed repairs to the Director of Housekeeping and Laundry
• Build positive rapport with residents, families, and visitors
• Organize and complete scheduled duties and special projects
• Follow facility and department safety rules
• Assist with inventory for scheduled projects
• Collect and dispose of refuse, operate trash compactor
• Shampoo carpets, buff floors, strip, and wax floors as scheduled

Main Laundry Responsibilities:

• Provide clean linens and supplies
• Ensure that resident/patients' personal clothing is identified, available, clean, and in good condition
• Use facility marking system for daily distribution to resident and patient rooms, individual clothing needs, and lost/misplaced items
• Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe environment in resident and laundry areas
  

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Able to assume responsibility for sanitation and cleanliness
• Understand and follow directions, both oral and written
• Work cooperatively with residents, supervisors, and peers
• Experience in housekeeping duties and operating housekeeping equipment preferred, but not required
• Familiarity with floor care equipment (scrubber, extractor, wax strippers & wax) is a plus
• Display patience, consideration, and tact when dealing with staff, visitors, and residents
• Able to operate a trash compactor and perform physical activities (including carrying up to 50 pounds)
• Attention to detail is a must

Schedule:

• On-call positions with a variety of early morning and daytime shifts
• On-call required to work 1 weekend every 3 months and every other holiday if shifts are available
