ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include the following and others may be assigned)
- Climate-Smart Practice Implementation: Assist farmers in adopting climate-smart practices such as cover crops and reduced tillage to enhance sustainability and soil health.
- Farmer Engagement: Develop and implement a strategic plan to engage farmers in conservation efforts, ensuring active participation and buy-in.
- Program Participation: Increase farmer participation in conservation programs through effective communication, support, and outreach.
- Community Outreach: Conduct outreach activities to raise awareness of conservation practices and programs among farmers and rural communities.
- Peer Network Development: Lead initiatives to build and strengthen a network of climate-smart farmers, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.
- Education and Training: Provide educational resources and training to farmers on best practices for climate-smart agriculture.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Track and report on the progress and impact of conservation initiatives, ensuring compliance with program requirements and goals.
- Research and Development: Collaborate with research institutions and agricultural organizations to stay updated on the latest conservation practices and technologies.
- Advisory Services: Offer expert advice to farmers on soil health, water management, and integrated pest management.
- Data Analysis and Management:
- Conduct strategic data analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement in precision agriculture practices.
- Develop and maintain databases to manage agronomic data effectively.
- Utilize precision agriculture tools and technologies to collect and analyze data for enhanced decision-making.
- Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to farmers and the Precision Ag Team.
- Develop predictive models to optimize crop management and resource allocation.
- Prepare detailed reports and visualizations to communicate findings to stakeholders.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Communication, Agricultural Science, Environmental Science, Data Science, or a related field or advanced degrees or certifications in agronomy, conservation practices, or data analytics, or a minimum of 3 years of experience in agronomy, conservation, precision agriculture, or data management, or a combination of the above.
- Experience with climate-smart practices, farmer engagement, and strategic data analysis is highly desirable
