Under limited supervision, our hire for maintenance technician will perform a variety of semi-skilled tasks in the upkeep of the Blair County Prison. Essential duties can include working with a plumber dedicated to this work location; troubleshooting minor maintenance problems involving carpentry, cement masonry, electrical, structural, and equipment repair or replacement; performing preventive maintenance such as basic rough and finish carpentry, caulking, basic cement masonry, drywall, basic electrical repair and lighting repair, painting, patching roofs or walls, replacing glass, etc.; performing routine repairs such as changing light bulbs, repairing ballast and light fixtures, unstopping toilets; assembling, moving, or repairing furniture; repairing and replacing door knobs or locks, cabinet/desk/closet closures, door hinges; and recommending solutions.
The hire will work first shift (6:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.) Monday through Friday, with the opportunity for overtime and subject to responding to emergency or off-hours calls. Assignment could require the hire to also work alternate shifts in what is a 24-hour facility.
Primary work location is within Blair County Prison with inmate contact.
