This is an excellent career opportunity for individuals who would like to expand their qualifying experience in the field of Probation. The assignment will be in Central Contra Costa County working in the field and juvenile institutions performing various departmental functions. This position plans, organizes, and directs a department-wide materials management program for the department and performs other related work as required. This classification is distinguished by its specialized responsibility for managing the receipt, storage, cleaning, distribution, and inventory of materials, supplies, parts, equipment, and furniture of their department.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to work cooperatively, communicate effectively with a variety of individuals, and apply sound judgments. You should know the general principles of supervision along with interviewing and counseling techniques.

- Conferring with supervisors to assess the quality, effectiveness, and durability of products in use, and to develop a list of required equipment, furniture, and supplies.
- Assisting in developing specifications for product acquisition and helping negotiate supplier selection in cooperation with the County's Purchasing Services Manager.

The eligible list established from this recruitment may be used to fill future openings for up to six (6) months.
The Materiel Manager classification is a Countywide classification. There is currently a vacancy in the Probation Department, however, if additional positions become available in other departments, the resulting eligible list may be used.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in business administration, public administration, or a closely related field.
Experience: Either 1) four (4) years of full-time or its equivalent experience in a central materials management program, at least two (2) years of which must have been in an administrative or supervisory capacity;
OR 2) four (4) years of full-time or its equivalent experience as a buyer in a central purchasing department performing technical purchasing work.
Substitution: Additional qualifying experience of either type noted above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of four (4) years. Six (6) months of additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required academic major.
Selection Process
1. Application Filing and Evaluation: All applicants must apply online at www.cccounty.us/hr and submit the information as indicated on the job announcement and supplemental questionnaire by the final filing date. Applications will be evaluated to determine which candidates will move forward in the next phase of the recruitment process.
2. Online Interview Assessment: The assessment is designed to measure candidates' competencies as they relate to the Materiel Manager classification. Candidates must achieve an average passing score of 70% or higher on each of the competencies assessed and an overall passing score of 70% or higher. These may include but are not limited to: Safety Focus, Displaying Ownership and Accountability, Professional Integrity and Ethics, Project Management, and Writing. (Weighted: 100%).

DISASTER SERVICE WORKER
All Contra Costa County employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law. Employment with the County requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
