The Fresno County District Attorney's Office is looking for an experienced, innovative law enforcement professional with the highest integrity to serve as the Chief of Investigations.
The Chief of Investigations, reporting to the District Attorney, plans, organizes, and manages the activities of the Bureau of Investigations; supervises internal affairs investigations; and oversees the more sensitive, complex, or difficult investigations. The District Attorney Investigator classification series is utilized in the Bureau of Investigations, which is headed by the Chief of Investigations. The Bureau of Investigations is divided into six divisions: Major Crimes, Financial Crimes, Public Aid Investigation, General Investigation, Family Protection and Special Investigation.
As a condition of employment, candidates must undergo and pass a thorough background investigation, polygraph, medical and psychological examination. These investigations include employment/credit histories, verification of education, arrest/criminal records, drug/alcohol use, and personal conduct. This list is neither inclusive nor exclusive; other relevant areas may be investigated and verified.

Candidates must meet one (1) of the following two (2) options:
OPTION 1:
Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree that is acceptable within the United States' accredited college or university system.
Experience: Four (4) years of full-time, paid public law enforcement investigative experience, two (2) years which must have been at a supervisory level.
OPTION 2:
Education: Completion of sixty (60) semester units from an accredited college or university that is acceptable within the United States' accredited college or university system.
Experience: Six (6) years of full-time, paid public law enforcement investigative experience, two (2) years which must have been at a supervisory level.
In addition to the above listed options, candidates must also possess the following:
Certificate: Possession of a valid Advanced Certificate issued by the State of California, Department of Justice, the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training.
License: Possession of a valid Class “C” driver's license, or equivalent.
Other: Under California Penal Code Section 830.1, the Chief of Investigations is defined as a Peace Officer. Therefore, candidates must be able to meet all pre-employment as well as ongoing peace officer status requirements pursuant to federal, state and local legislation.
